The Reliability Technician will be responsible for maintaining and servicing equipment used in the facility for daily production. They will ensure safe plant operations and a safe working environment for all employees.

The Reliability Technician will be responsible for effective troubleshooting, repair, installation, and preventative maintenance of facility electrical distribution systems and equipment in an industrial setting. They will ensure safe plant operations and a safe working environment for all employees.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and code specifications to determine lay-out of industrial equipment and installations
  • Conduct planned preventive & predictive maintenance and keep maintenance records
  • Actively participate in preventive maintenance program on building equipment processing equipment daily
  • Efficient production equipment set up, inspection and shutdown of all related equipment when required, including process changeovers
  • Assist in planning, organizing of work activities (drawing interpretation, parts preparation)
  • Program, troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial equipment and automation including PLCs, HMI, frequency drives, temperature control and other related devices

What You’ll Bring:

  • Certified Journeyman Electrician with 5+ years’ experience. Preference to those with proof of completing the Industrial Apprenticeship Program
  • Knowledge of conveyors, high speed slicers, pumps / compressor, electrical / electronic controls and high speed packaging equipment
  • Strong working knowledge of HMI's, electric motor controls, programmable logic controllers, basic wiring circuits and skills necessary to safely test common electrical systems and make minor repairs where permitted
  • 442A licensing an asset vs. 309A

The Industrial Engineering team at Maple Leaf Foods supports all of Maple Leaf’s manufacturing facilities across North America.  The Industrial Engineering team works alongside factory leadership and the corporate head office, located in Mississauga Ontario, to lead disciplined decision making, direction setting, and identification of opportunities to maximize efficiencies across the manufacturing network. 

We are seeking for an experienced IE specialist to join our team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing labour standards and tracking labour performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, as well as working on exciting opportunities to support medium / long-term strategic initiatives within Maple Leaf Foods.  You will be partnered with a variety of stakeholders across an expansive cross-functional team (including marketing, R&D, operations, finance, etc…) to develop comprehensive and sustainable plans to meet the company’s objectives, goals, strategies, and measures.  Success will be measured in the direct & indirect contributions the team has made in a challenging zero-based budget environment.

  • Establishment of Labour Standards – Measure, document, track, and update standards to ensure the correct costing of labour, packaging, and raw materials at our production facilities
  • Master Capacity Planning – Lead the planning and management of MLF’s manufacturing capacities with the Supply Chain and the Commercial teams                  
  • Product Development – Provide manufacturing insight (cost, capacity, capability) on product development / innovation opportunities for all business units    
  • Process Optimization – Line balancing, labour optimization, line debottlenecking, and waste elimination using IE tools like time studies, job analysis, and simulations  
  • Strategic Initiatives – Provide objective and analytical guidance to support the organization’s sustainable growth 
  • Other duties as required

What You’ll Bring:

  • Industrial Engineering (or equivalent) degree at a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Professional Engineering Designation (or eligibility)
  • 3 to 5+ years of relevant industrial experience (CPG, Food & Beverage, or high-speed manufacturing preferred), fundamental understanding of manufacturing required
  • Practical experience with Industrial Engineering tools such as Labour Standards, Methods Analysis, Time Studies, and Line Balancing                                                                       
  • Knowledge of Sales & Operational Planning, Capacity Planning, Economical Order Quantity strategies
  • Organized and capable of working independently while managing multiple priorities                           
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data management

Job Details

Our Bus Fleet Maintenance team is seeking a Serviceperson II on contract for up to 12 months to service buses under the supervision of the Supervisor, Fleet Maintenance. 

What will I be doing?

  • Servicing, fuelling, parking and Bus cleaning as it relates to the fuel and mop lines.
  • Performing change-offs as required
  • Services the bus fleet by fuelling, sweeping, driving, and checking buses, circle check inspections, and performing minor repairs.
  • Performs interior, exterior and maintenance cleaning duties on the bus, and support fleets.
  • Completes on-the-road change-offs and road calls.
  • Performs spills containment and clean up.
  • Performs emission tests.
  • Performs wheel-nut torques.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Knowledge of motor vehicle repairs normally attained through completion of a high school program with an emphasis on motor vehicle repairs. 
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in servicing buses or heavy equipment, as well as, assisting with repairs in bus or heavy vehicle maintenance environment.
  • Must successfully complete mandatory environmental, safety and all other training required by corporate policy including new courses that are or could be adjusted with these policies
  • Knowledge of vehicle repairs and evolving technologies including new Electric Vehicles (EV) would be considered an asset. 
  • Must have a valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s licence and must meet corporate standard for a good driving record. A Driver’s Abstract (within the last 3 months) will be required of the successful candidate(s).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Class “C” driver’s licence and “Z” endorsement. 
  • Must be able to obtain GO Transit Forklift driving certificate.   
  • Must successfully complete environmental, safety and any other training required by corporate policy. 
  • Ability to obtain job related certifications as required. 

 

Available Shifts/Locations: 


12 month contract  - East Gwillimbury Bus Garage  -  19:00-05:00 Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. OFF on Tuesday and Wednesday.

 

Note: This is a unionized position. As such, specific home bases, locations, shifts, shift hours and/or days off are assigned based on seniority and may be changed due to operational needs. They may include weekends, evenings, split shifts & holidays.
