Main Purpose and Function
The Project Engineer will lead and support a variety of complex projects for shared micromobility, street use, and public space-related infrastructure within the Street Use Management Branch.  

 

The primary responsibilities of this position are related to the implementation, coordination, and management of the shared e-scooter pilot program, and to use engineering judgement to guide the implementation of the shared e-scooter system in accordance with industry leading practices. The Project Engineer builds and maintains relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to support implementation and operations of the shared e-scooter system, and facilitates the review process for use of space in street right-of-way and private property for station siting. They assist with conducting performance reviews for the junior staff, as well as the hiring processes. 

 

The shared e-scooter pilot program and other micromobility initiatives advance key City objectives related to sustainability, equity and accessibility. The Project Engineer will continue to advance these initiatives while managing system assets, service levels and supporting local and regional growth of micromobility. The position reports to the Project Manager II and supervises junior staff. 


Specific Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manages projects to support various current and future aspects of the shared micromobility programs such as:
    • Understanding the technical and community challenges of station siting;
    • Administration including compliance of the shared micromobility service contracts; and
    • Strategic implementation and planning for shared micromobility systems.
  • Supervises technical staff (Engineering Assistants and Planning Assistants) and conducts performance reviews.
  • Provides overall support to the Project Manager II and Branch Manager.
  • Gathers expertise and knowledge of emerging policies, practices, and technologies related to the development of shared micromobility systems in North America.
  • Creates and manages the station siting internal review process.
  • Uses engineering judgement to assess the safety and operability of shared micromobility stations as they are integrated into the public realm and the transportation network.
  • Frequent interaction and coordination with other groups to understand and mitigate impacts to other work areas.
  • Acts as City liaison with external contractors and other City departments in order to coordinate shared micromobility station siting, permitting, and approvals.
  • Interacts with the public, business associations, and other stakeholders to help address questions and concerns in a timely and effective manner.
  • Manages the use of public and private space, understanding and mitigating the many trade-offs including the subtleties and sensitivities of competing needs and priorities.
  • Reports out to internal and external stakeholders, including the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Represent the City of Vancouver at external events and conferences.
  • Reviews and provides direction for shared micromobility requirements as part of rezoning and development applications and related processes.
  • Understands the impacts and trade-offs in the accommodation of shared micromobility stations on private development sites.
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

 

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a professional engineer designation, and minimum four years of related experience in project management including planning, detailed design, construction, and contract management of engineering projects, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Registration or eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia. 
  • A current and valid BC Driver’s License. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of the City’s transportation policies and awareness of best practices in shared micromobility systems and active transportation.
  • Working knowledge of the Professional Governance Act, Quality Management System and their respective frameworks and applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a variety of stakeholders, with experience writing technical reports.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

  • Registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-In-Training in British Columbia is required.
  • Training in Project Management methodologies, practices and processes preferably consistent with those provided by the Project Management Institute.
  • Experience in at least two of the Quality Engineer Body of Knowledge Areas as defined by the American Society for Quality (e.g. Management and Leadership, Quality Management System, Continuous Improvement, Quantitative Methods and Tools, etc.).

Building Worker - Community Centres
The Building Worker is responsible for the enhancement of civic buildings by completing janitorial duties and minor maintenance. A key part of the role requires knowledge of standard cleaning methods and the ability to learn new and effective methods to ensure the cleanliness of the facilities. The Building Worker is responsible for performing a variety of heavy cleaning tasks including stripping and waxing floors, cleaning windows, cleaning washrooms, showers and change rooms, carpet cleaning, emptying garbage, minor maintenance repairs and other related duties as required.

 

Building Worker - Mobile Parks

The Mobile Parks Building Worker will provide janitorial services for the citywide inventory of public bathrooms and change rooms in parks. The Building Worker must also be able to operate a vehicle on a daily basis in a safe and efficient manner. Duties include, but are not limited to: opening, stocking, spot and deep cleaning, and locking facilities.

 

The successful candidate must be able to work a variety of shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights and on weekends. 

 

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a recognized certification program in building services work and some related experience.
  • Experience performing a variety of routine manual tasks in care, cleaning and general maintenance of buildings.

  • Responsible for carrying through to completion, the construction, assembly, installation and repair of a wide variety of metal parts, tools, and machines and usually involves working with large and heavy pieces as well as various small instruments.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of Grade 10, supplemented by the successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship in the Machinist trade.
  • Machinist Certificate of Qualifications (T.Q.) of British Columbia or Inter-Provincial Red Seal Endorsement
  • Red Seal certification is preferred

 

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, materials and equipment used in the Machinist trade supplemented by considerable experience as a Millwright.

They also will assist in setting up, facilitate, and tearing down Special Events and confirms that strict adherence to provincial rules around the service of alcohol within the licensed area of the clubhouse is being followed. The hours can range from 7:00am to 10:30pm. The successful candidate must be able to work a variety of days and shifts including morning, afternoon, evenings and weekends. The successful candidate must be also available to work at multiple locations. Please note that this position is an Auxiliary position which runs until October 2024, with the possibility of extension.


Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Completion of Grade 11, preferably supplemented by some cashier experience
  • Experience in serving food and beverages and working in an outdoor environment is preferred
  • Experience working in a similar unionized Food and Beverage team environment is an asset
  • Food Safe Certification is an asset
  • Serving it Right Certification is an asset
  • Valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Some knowledge of cashiering and retail sales methods and practices
  • Some knowledge of basic food preparation and serving duties and of health standards and regulations
  • Knowledge or previous experience in a horticultural or Golf Course Environment preferred
  • Previous hospitality experience including customer service, POS experience, stocking, and inventory an asset

Main Purpose and Function

The Office Support Clerk III is responsible for administrative and clerical tasks for the Transportation Planning and Transportation Design branches, as well as Engineering Team Services at Crossroads. Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides end-user support for branch SharePoint pages.

  • Adheres to standards of the City’s Ethical Purchasing Policy as well as manage the supplies and ordering of goods in accordance to the P2P process.
  • Resolves invoicing issues.
  • Coordinates P-card reconciliation.
  • Ensures printers are working and maintain the toner and paper supplies for the floor.
  • Assists the branch section heads with their calendar management, including booking large meetings and/or travel/training trips.
  • Initiates eSAFs and eCAFs as per direction from management, and forwards them to appropriate authority for approval.
  • Supports the onboarding of new employees to the branches including IT and security accesses.

  • Uses the VanRIMS classification and retention schedule exclusively and serves as the branches Departmental Records Coordinator (DRC) for all VanDocs related issues.

  • Other administrative duties as required for Engineering Team Services.

 

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

  • Completion of Grade 12 including or supplemented by commercial administration courses plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 
  • Experience as a Departmental Records Coordinator is considered an asset.
     

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Sound knowledge of departmental and other policies, regulations, rules, procedures and practices that relate to the position occupied or which govern worksite activities and employee behaviour.

The Assistant to the FIFA World Cup 2026 (FWC26) Host City Secretariat Lead and a member of the FWC26 Host City Secretariat, will provide a wide variety of confidential and sensitive administrative support as well as organizing and coordinating daily activities of the FWC26 Host City Secretariat.

 

Key Contacts and Reporting Relationships

This position reports to the FWC26 Director of Coordination and Alignment and closely supports the FWC26 Host City Secretariat. Key contacts include: the City Leadership Team; senior City staff, (chiefly the supporting functions including legal, financial and communications); federal and provincial government agencies and external partners (including the Integrated Safety and Security Unit, PavCo, YVR, Parks Board, First Nations, and FIFA), and members of the public.

 

Specific Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provides executive level confidential and administrative support for FWC26 Host City Secretariat.
  • Coordinates and maintains the calendars of the FWC26 Host City Secretariat Lead and Team using judgement to prioritize meeting and event requests with a view to optimizing available time. This includes planning, organizing and scheduling meetings/events; screening requests for meetings/events; anticipating and working with external partners, stakeholders and senior city staff to resolve scheduling conflicts to ensure high priority meetings/events are accommodated in a timely fashion.
  • Schedules meetings with internal staff, external partners and stakeholders including Provincial Government, Federal Government and FIFA contacts.
  • Supports the FWC26 Host City Secretariat in managing and delivering all functions including, but not limited to: work plan management; financial management; procurement process; issues log; risk register, status reporting; change log; action item log, etc.
  • Manages the flow of information to and from the FWC26 Host City Secretariat by reviewing daily email, correspondence, memos and reports. Using their own judgement and discretion, this position will either respond directly on behalf of the FWC26 Host City Secretariat on those matters where there is extensive knowledge of the issue, process or procedure or escalate appropriate matters for reply or additional information to the team members.
  • Coordinates approval and sign off by the FWC26 Host City Secretariat of reports, budgetary matters and other reports.
  • Manages a variety of sensitive and confidential matters including correspondence, agendas, minutes, contracts, and presentations; locates and assembles information for various reports and briefings; compiles and prepares meeting materials and minutes and attends meetings as required.
  • Coordinates and assists the FWC26 Host City Secretariat to manage processes and feedback received by the FWC26 Host City Secretariat.
  • Coordinates travel and accommodation arrangements for the FWC26 Host City Secretariat including complex itineraries requiring multiple flights, multiple destinations, multiple events and/or foreign travel. Manages rescheduling of travel arrangements as required.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Diploma in Office Administration and a minimum three experience in a progressively administrative role in municipal government or an equivalent combination of education or experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of Office 365 products with advanced knowledge of Outlook including the use of follow up flags, rules and alerts.
