Fire Prevention Specialist/Inspector is a critical member of the Fire Prevention Team and are responsible for all aspects of fire prevention and education throughout the duration of their shift. This role would require the FPS to work a continental rotation shift of days and nights. You will hold NFPA Level I and II certificates, IMS100 certification, a G Class Drivers License. FPS reports directly to the Security Shift Supervisor and are responsible for the following:
Pay Rate: $25.00/hr
Shift: Days and Nights Continental Rotation
Life Safety Inspections:
• Inspection, maintenance and use of personal protective equipment including Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), identifying and reporting all deficiencies.
• Basic maintenance of security patrol vehicles and reporting all deficiencies.
• Maintain operational knowledge of Client Fire Prevention Standard and relevant building and fire codes and enforce these codes and standards.
• Evaluates, establish, and enforce fire and life safety plans and conduct & observe fire evacuation drills.
• Delivers internal training to Securitas and Client personnel to raise awareness of fire prevention programs and activities.
• Provides technical support and training for employee personnel.
• Required to attend, and successfully complete, any training required by Client or designate which may be internal, off site or out of City.
• Conduct daily checks of CO2 and sprinkler riser systems.
• Conduct monthly checks of life safety devices as assigned by the S/AM.
• Complete fire safety shop audits and identify fire/safety concerns and report to confirm corrective action to eliminate hazards and follow up to confirm compliance.
• Identify, investigate, and report fire/safety hazards coordinating with SAM, Health & Safety or Facilities Engineering for repairs.
• Maintain operational knowledge of the mechanics and locations of the fire suppression systems on site.
• Maintain operational knowledge of sprinkler system mechanics to identify trouble signals, alarm signals, leaks and sprinkler flows on any given system.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 12 or GED equivalent.
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
- Valid G class Driver’s License.
- NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter Level I & II from a recognized College.
- IMS 100.
- First Responder or Above from Canadian Red Cross.
- Mental Health First Aid Certificate issued by recognized provider.
- Completion of the annual FPI Medical Questionnaire.
- Must Successfully pass SCBA Fit Testing.
- Completion of an approved Certified Fire Inspector (CFI) course that meets the standards of NFPA 1031
- Mental Health First Aid Certificate issued by recognized provider.
- Must be able to display clear and quick thinking to resolve problems whilst being able to withstand stress and stay calm under pressure.
- Completion of the annual FPI Medical Questionnaire.
- Must Successfully pass SCBA Fit Testing.
- Completion of an approved Certified Fire Inspector (CFI) course that meets the standards of NFPA 1031 (required for full pay rate).
- Must be able to complete all site FPI required training.
- Able to carry out fire fighting and rescue duties in a team setting under arduous physical conditions. A capacity for rapid, intense and sustained physical effort is required.
- Speak, read and write English fluently, and communicate clearly under demanding conditions.
- Competent in the use of Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Diploma in police foundations or/and certification in Law security, criminology
- Thorough understanding of security protocols and procedures including emergency response.

DUTIES:
- Reporting to the Cultural Development and Willistead Manor Coordinator, Ojibway Naturalist and Outreach Coordinator, Museum Windsor Curator and/or designate(s), this position will be responsible for:

- Must hold by date of hire and maintain current and valid Standard First Aid and CPR certification obtained from a first aid training provider approved by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), for the full term of employment;
- Education in environmental or biological studies considered an asset.
- Local and/or Natural History knowledge considered an asset.
- Experience working with computer programs such as MS Office Suite of Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and ActiveNet or similar program will be considered an asset.
- Proficiency in French language considered an asset.
