Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language

Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience, training will be provided
Equipment and machinery experience: Tractor-trailer, Tractor-trailer B train
Credentials: Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, Driver’s License (Class 1 or A)
Security and safety: Driver’s validity licence check, Driving record check (abstract)

Physical Requirements:

• The candidates should be able to handle weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

• The candidates should exhibit good judgment and be organized
• The candidates should demonstrate reliability and be a team player

Candidate Status:

• Canadian citizens and permanent or temporary foreign workers of Canada are eligible for this position

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to address customers’ complaints or concerns with professionalism and efficiency, and demonstrate professionalism in customer service interactions
• The candidates should be able to arrange travel, related itineraries, and make reservations as needed
• The candidates should be able to drive as part of a two-person team or convoy, ensuring safety and adherence to regulations, and drive lighter, special purpose trucks proficiently
• The candidates should be able to load and unload goods safely and efficiently, and operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
• The candidates should be able to oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment regularly
• The candidates should be able to handle payments accurately and receive payments for goods, perform brake adjustments, and emergency roadside repairs when necessary
• The candidates should be able to perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, oversee all aspects of the vehicle’s operation, and perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the vehicle’s reliability
• The candidates should be able to receive and relay information to central dispatch effectively, record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption accurately
• The candidates should be able to tarp and ensure the safety and security of cargo during transportation, and transport and handle dangerous goods in compliance with safety regulations
