Overview of the role :

Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the Quality Technician is integral to the laboratory team. This position is responsible for performing precise laboratory analysis, reporting, and monitoring of the quality of raw and finished products, raw ingredients, and sanitation system. This is a full-time, holiday relief temporary position.

 

Schedule: Shift rotation holiday relief, 36 hours per week. Day, afternoon and night - 12 hour shifts.

Wage: 30.20-36.24$/h

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Supports and maintains Saputo Dairy Products Canada’s quality standards

  • Monitors the quality of all raw and finished products through bacterial, chemical and organoleptic evaluation

  • Performs bacterial and chemical analysis of raw ingredients

  • Monitors temperature and chemical concentration of sanitation systems

  • Assesses plant sanitation and general housekeeping

  • Maintains and calibrates lab equipment

  • Summarizes and reports results

  • Performs data entry and other lab-related duties as required

  • Performs HACCP-related tasks as assigned and other duties as required

 

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Food Sciences, Dairy Technology, Microbiology. A two year post-secondary diploma in Food Processing, or a University degree in Dairy Science, Food Science or Microbiology preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

  • Laboratory experience

  • Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills

  • Ability to self-manage, multi-task and work well under pressure

  • Organized with attention to detail

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (MS Word and Excel)

  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills

  • Collaborate with Quality Control team members and other departments to establish, maintain, and improve quality control systems.
  • Lead the plant’s food safety activities to meet policies and procedures per government, company, and plant standards, including (but not limited to):
    • Environmental Monitoring Program
    • Pathogenic and non-pathogenic monitoring programs
    • Food safety hazard analysis and risk assessments
  • Assess microbiological risks and monitor food safety controls throughout the production process, working with the team to drive improvements.
  • Implement, monitor, and improve hygiene practices, sanitation procedures, and microbial testing protocols.
  • Conduct microbiological tests, evaluate samples, analyze data, and develop protocols for continuous improvement.

  • Lead and support food safety-related training and team development.

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • BSc. or MSc. Degree in Microbiology, Food Microbiology, is required.
  • 2-5 years of food-related microbiological projective work and analytical work experience are required; food manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GMPs, GLPs, and laboratory quality assurance principles and procedures; understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 preferred.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and requirements.
  • Data-driven with strong investigative and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in using computers to access, manipulate, interpret data, and reporting.

Overview of the Role
 

Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, Inventory Control Coordinator is responsible for maintaining accurate records of inventory including regular cycle counts and product returns.  Analyzes data and provides reports and analysis to management, reports on inventory issues and assists with research and reconciliation of inventory discrepancies. Monday to Friday schedule, some weekend work is required.
 

How you will make contributions that matter:

 

  • Monitor all key functions related to inventory transactions to ensure they are accurate and timely.
  • Completion of the daily count process, progress and results to identify and correct discrepancies on items at the location level as needed and necessary recounts.  Provide regular report on the results.
  • Perform thorough reconciliation, research and document inventory discrepancies using all available resources to identify root causes and supply possible solutions for improvement of the inventory record accuracy.
  • Monitor and audit warehouse internal and external transfers (inbound and outbound) on a weekly basis to maintain accuracy and timeliness, ensuring that errors are corrected by appropriate department/location.
  • Support implementations of processes, procedures and controls to maintain high level of inventory accuracy.
  • Regular review, audit, research and investigation of inventory and inventory transactions to ensure proper recording and accuracy.
  • Provide functional support for inventory control questions and issues from different departments.
  • Provides inventory reports i.e. Scorecard, KPI (key performance indicator), Shrink / Gain reports and other information reports as required.
  • Support documentation for Performance management of staff including error rate, pick rate where applicable.
  • Ad-hoc duties to support the business.
  • Trained yearly on Food Safety as well as Health & Safety requirements for Warehousing Storage and Distribution
