Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Documentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports
Equipment and machinery experience: Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles)
Own tools/equipment: Cellular phone, Steel-toed safety boots
Credentials: CPR Certificate, Driver’s License (Class 3 or D), First Aid Certificate, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
Security and safety: Basic security clearance, Bondable, Criminal record check, Driver’s validity licence check, Driving record check (abstract), Drug test

Shifts: Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Shift, Overtime, On Call, Flexible Hours, Early Morning, Morning
Transportation information: Local, Long-haul, Provincial/territorial, Short-haul, Own transportation, Own vehicle, Valid driver’s licence, Willing to travel for extended periods, Willing to travel overnight

Physical Requirements:

• The candidates should have a strong attention to detail and be capable of handling heavy loads
• The candidates should be prepared for a large workload and willing to work overtime when required
• The candidates should be physically fit for demanding tasks and capable of performing repetitive tasks
• The candidates should be comfortable sitting for extended periods

Other Requirements:

• The candidates should possess efficient interpersonal skills and exhibit excellent oral and written communication
• The candidates should demonstrate flexibility in their approach to work and exercise good judgment in their tasks
• The candidates should be organized, reliable individuals and team players

Candidate Status:

• Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
• Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
• If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to address customers’ complaints or concerns and demonstrate professionalism in customer service
• The candidates should be able to coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques
• The candidates should be able to drive as part of a two-person team or convoy, load and unload goods, and operate straight or articulated trucks for transportation
• The candidates should be able to oversee the vehicle’s condition, inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment, and handle payments for goods
• The candidates should be able to perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, oversee all aspects of the vehicle, and conduct preventive maintenance
• The candidates should be able to receive and relay information to central dispatch, record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption, and handle tarping to ensure the safety and security of cargo
