Company Description
Subway is a quick-service restaurant chain that serves sandwiches, wraps, salads, and bowls in more than 100 countries:
History
The Subway story began in 1965 when Fred DeLuca, a 17-year-old college student, asked his family friend Dr. Peter Buck for advice on how to pay for college. Buck, a nuclear physicist, suggested they open a submarine sandwich shop. The first Subway restaurant opened in Bridgeport, Connecticut in August 1965. The name "Subway" comes from the word "submarine" because the sandwiches are shaped like submarines.
