Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years

Work setting: Installation, maintenance, and telecommunications company

Physical Requirements:

• The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors
• The candidates should be able to work in confined spaces
• The candidates should be accustomed to a fast-paced environment and able to work under tight deadlines
• The candidates should demonstrate attention to detail and have the ability to distinguish between colors
• The candidates should be capable of handling heavy loads and be prepared for physically demanding tasks

• The candidates should have efficient interpersonal skills and exhibit flexibility in their approach
• The candidates should exercise good judgment, be highly organized, and be known for their reliability

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to climb and work aloft on poles, ladders, or other support structures and connect, disconnect, and relocate cable outlets
• The candidates should be able to determine work assignments, inspect, test, and repair cable signals and associated equipment, and install cable modems and software for internet access
• The candidates should be able to maintain and repair aerial and underground transmission systems, repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers, and amplifiers, and test equipment to locate transmission faults
• The candidates should be able to splice, join, and connect wires, repair or replace defective telephone equipment, and instruct apprentices
• The candidates should be able to install trunking systems, circuits, and equipment, inspect and test trunking systems, and determine the nature, cause, and location of trouble
• The candidates should be able to complete and maintain test and service reports, read and interpret blueprints, and install and maintain aerial and underground telephone equipment
