The Manufacturing Supervisor is a full-time position located at our Brampton Bottling Production Facilities. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Production Supervisor supervises and coordinates activities within the manufacturing department while working in close collaboration with the members of the production facility. 

Responsibilities

  • Staff, train, supervise, develop, and evaluate team members.
  • Provide a safe work environment by having regular Safety crew talks promoting safety policies and guidelines. 
  • Manage daily maintenance activities of the team in a unionized environment.
  • Complete work orders, work schedules, timesheet approvals, maintains employee files, ensuring daily tasks and procedures are followed out safely and correctly.
  • Support the maintenance department planning shutdown work, reviewing parts and schedules are in place. 
  • Reviews KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), deciding and implementing corrective measures to the team.
  • Responsible for maximizing fixed asset utilization rates.
  • Ensure proper transfer of information between the shifts and departments.
  • Comply with all Company/Plant policies and Regulatory guidelines including but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), American Institute of Banking (AIB), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Quality and Safety Standards.
  • Manage labour and operations within operating expenses (OPEX) budget.
  • Ability to work any shift, and be on call as required. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience is required.
  • 1-3 year’s work experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment required.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical components
  • Preference given to applicants with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) knowledge and experience.
  • Excellent general computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), SAP experience an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude to builds and maintain strong business relationships.

What you’ll do: 
•    Operate multi megawatt emergency power generation and distribution systems.
•    Generators, UPSs, DC Plants, Switchgear, etc.

•    Chillers, Pumped refrigerant, RTU’s, Splits, CRACs and others.
•    Complete minor repairs and routine maintenance independently and assist with complex repairs and work orders. 
•    Plumbing, belts, lubes, bearings, filter replacements, etc.
•    Operate/Maintain/Repair all manner of building automation devices including valves, dampers, humidifiers, actuators, pumps, etc. 
•    Operate/maintain/repair fire systems and their components including smoke and heat detectors, pre-action wet/dry sprinklers, standpipes, and related auxiliaries. 
•    Investigate and mitigate alarm causation and reset the system as required. 
•    Coordinate/Escort external trades. 
•    Perform daily routine water analysis and maintain defined chemical levels as per the water treatment programs.

•    Participate in the upgrading and upkeep of the building including cleaning/painting floors and equipment, painting of walls, piping, etc.

This is a site-based shift-work position requiring you to be at the specified site every shift as per the schedule.   Currently this team follows a 4 on 4, off alternating days/nights, 12 hr shift schedule.    There is no work from home component.  This team is deemed critical infrastructure and worked at site all through covid and would have to during potential future emergencies.

The GTA Facility in Brampton, ON is FGL’s and Canadian Tire’s most highly automated distribution centres, processing and delivering incoming vendor goods to our large chain of retail stores. This facility has some 16 km of automated conveyors, 3 High speed sortation systems, our automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) using a shuttle system storing product in almost 110,00 locations, to deliver product reliably and efficiently throughout the building. These systems work together through a central computer-controlled system to ensure product is received and delivered to our stores quickly and accurately.

The Maintenance Department is seeking a supervisor (shift supervisor) to lead a skilled team of trades, including (4) Industrial Mechanics and (2) Electricians

 to perform scheduled preventive maintenance and service work to achieve department and productivity key performance indicators. The Supervisor supervises the execution of the maintenance work plan for the assigned shifts and assists in the set up for the oncoming shifts as required. The Supervisor liaises with the Maintenance Planners to ensure all planned work has the resources and material available to complete the plan and works closely with the incoming Maintenance team at shift hand-off to ensure plan compliance and transfer of information regarding breakdowns and other issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead employees in the daily execution of planned (PM) & unplanned (service) work, and project or overhaul work as required

  • Work with Operations Managers/Team Leads to respond quickly and effectively to equipment downtime, productivity or safety issues

  • Monitor production requirements during shift to meet operational requirements

  • Provide direction, leadership and problem-solving guidance to employees to minimize equipment downtime

  • Ensure all work orders are completed on a timely, efficient, effective and safe manner

  • Meet or exceed shift planned work, including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and 5S (housekeeping)

  • Ensure all work completed meets or exceeds industry or trade quality standards

  • Communicate job status to customers, Planning and other shifts/shift Supervisors

  • Distribute work fairly and effectively to team members

  • Ensure crew members have sufficient skills to perform assigned work, and recommend training or other methods to increase crew job knowledge and capability

  • Identify and implement relevant legislative and other training for team

  • Ensure crew follows requirements/regulations of Occupational Health & Safety Act and Canadian Tire standards

  • Seek and recommend opportunities to improve equipment operation/efficiency/safety or other recommendations to improve effectiveness of crew

  • Provide direction, leadership and problem-solving guidance to employees

  • Ensure work order information entered into CMMS (Maximo) is complete and accurate

  • Familiar with common maintenance key performance indicators (KPI, e.g., Planned v/Unplanned work, % PM completion, staff utilization, etc.) and leading teams for high performance in these areas

  • Strong history of coaching/developing maintenance teams in working with emphasis on safety, productivity, quality, good maintenance practices and innovation

  • Administer company & departmental policies and procedures

  • Work with Maintenance Manager to resolve team issues as required

  •  Perform quarterly employee 1:1 check-in reviews and yearly performance appraisals

  • Lead coaching and disciplinary sessions as appropriate

  • Assist in supervisor coverage where possible during vacations and other absences

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma required (Engineering or Technical Discipline) or Skilled Trade License (442A Industrial Electrician, #433A Industrial Millwright Mechanic

  • 5+ years supervisory experience in the maintenance field or demonstrable equivalent experience

  • Demonstrable experience working with O.Reg 851 (Industrial Establishments)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance planning techniques, work-order flow, proactive maintenance techniques

  • Experience with computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)

SUMMARY
Responsibilities include access control, escalations, loss prevention, incident response, and reporting safety and security incidents. Shift: 0700-1900/1900-0700 Continental Rotation (You must be able to work days and nights)

SUMMARY
Responsibilities include access control, escalations, loss prevention, incident response, and reporting safety and security incidents. The successful candidate will use strong customer service skills and the ability to facilitate effective communication internally and externally to perform the job. They will respond to email, triage issues, and direct them to the proper authority for resolution. They also assist in the timely completion of reports. They perform administrative and miscellaneous duties as directed by management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Monitors physical security operations at the client.
  2. Monitors cameras and access control systems covering data calls and entry/exit doors. 
  3. Dispatches appropriate personnel, as necessary.  
  4. Identifies and escalates issues in accordance with documented policies and procedures. 
  5. Reviews all reports written during shift. 
  6. Ensures all scheduled posts are filled. 
  7. Maintains documentation and follows standardized procedures to successfully complete unannounced audits. 
  8. Collects complete information for detailed report and appropriate follow-up. Prepares well written reports and maintains strict distribution to “need to know” parties. 
  9. Cross-training will be provided for all site-based roles, enabling you to step in for other position coverage and offer relief breaks to guards, when required by operational needs.
  10. Prepares written and electronic logs and reports as required for the site while entering information in appropriate computer systems. 
  11. Read and comprehends standard operations procedures, post orders, reports, and other printed materials. 
  12. Performs additional tasks assigned by management. 
  13. Evaluates and escalates potential safety issues within the facility. 
  14. Required to know and follow safe work practices, and to be aware of company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations. Notify supervisor upon becoming aware of unsafe working conditions. 

MINIMUM HIRING STANDARDS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Must have a reliable means of communication, such as cell phone. 
  • Must have a reliable means of transportation (public or private). 
  • Must have the legal right to work in Canada. 
  • Must have the ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently. 
  • Must have a high school diploma, secondary education equivalent, or GED. 
  • Must have 2+ years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience enough to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Able to work during daytime, evening, nights, rotational, weekend, and holiday hours
