Data Management Specialist for provincial government agency client. Initial Term: ASAP to July 31, 2025. Target Compensation: From $85 per hour to $90 per hour, with some flexibility. Regular Work Hours: FULL TIME HOURS; standard shift is 8 am to 4 pm or 9 am to 5 pm, not including unpaid 1 hour lunch break, Monday to Friday (35.0 work hours per week). Occasional shift flexibility or additional paid time may be required, according to client business need. Work Location: Hybrid - combination of 3 days remote-based and 2 days onsite at client's downtown Toronto office (on PATH and near Union and GO Stations) and/or Mississauga office (near Hwy 403, free parking available). Tuesday is a mandatory onsite day at the Toronto location. The second mandatory onsite day may be either Wednesday or Thursday at the Mississauga location. Travel Requirements: Additional travel within GTA / Ontario to other office sites occasionally required. Responsibilities Summary: To provide life cycle management of databases and related software by contributing to establishment of user requirements, databases and related software design; integration of commercial products; software coding and enhancements; trouble-shooting; preparation of procedures; database administration; consulting; documentation; go-live planning; training; and researching commercial products. • Conduct studies, and participate in and lead project teams to design and develop databases and database systems. Collaborate with team to define database schema, develop physical databases, develop stored procedures and configure database software. • Administer database systems, including capacity planning, installation, configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, as well as backup and data recovery. • Provide life cycle management of databases and database software to support products and services. • Develop procedures required for secure operation and management of databases. Perform database systems attestation to ensure compliance to set standards and requirements, and identify improvement opportunities. • Contribute to database strategy for reliable computer infrastructure, including development, implementation and optimization of data modeling; development of physical databases and stored procedures; data replication; data governance; data extraction, transformation and loading; and database administration. • Collaborate with external parties to coordinate, discuss, and develop direction, solutions, changes and recommendations on equipment, coordinated system design and operation, and issues resolution. • Additional database management, project planning and implementation, and advisory services as required. Qualifications: Education: 4-Year University Degree in relevant discipline. Preferred Work Experience: At least 8+ years of progressive, relevant experience required. Preferred Sector Experience: Should have significant familiarity with application of database systems and technology in the area of power systems and electricity markets. Team Collaboration Experience and Skills: Proven ability to work closely with others to coordinate own activities, advise on system changes and additions, and provide technical and economic advice and guidance. Technical and Language Skills Requirements: • Advanced knowledge of relational and non-relational database management systems, data analysis, database design (logical and physical) and general IT infrastructure. • Significant exposure to database and computer systems and technology within power system operations and electricity market operations, including secure operation of bulk power system, metering and market settlement, financial systems, and big data/data warehousing. • Strong technical writing skills to prepare effective reports. • Overall strong English communication skills, including business writing skills, technical writing skills and verbal presentation skills suitable to a diverse range of technical and non-technical audiences including senior leadership and technical and non-technical direct users. Additional Requirements: • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request. • Ability to work both remotely and onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies. • Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities. • Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start. • Ability to complete NERC course upon request. • Satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, and Employment References.
