As an Equipment Operator II, you will operate and perform maintenance on a variety of equipment utilised for small scale Open Space Construction projects.
Duties will include:
- Operate 3-ton Single Axle Dump Truck with a Trailer
- Operate a 5-ton Tandem Truck
- Operate a Skid Steer / Toolcat with Loader attachment
- Operate Tractors
- Deliver and haul material to and from construction job sites
- Load tandem trucks with fill material
- Operate various machinery and equipment to perform general landscaping duties
- Finish grade work
- Maintain equipment on a daily basis
- Perform record keeping
- Perform other related labour duties as required
Qualifications
- Completion of the 10th school grade supplemented by experience in the operation of equipment assigned to the position or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Valid Alberta Class 3 driver’s licence with Air Brakes Endorsement (or provincial equivalent)
- Must possess a current Class D City of Edmonton driving permit
- Must be City of Edmonton trained and certified to operate a Skid Steer / Toolcat
- Will be required to successfully complete in-house Combination Unit Certification training requirements
- Thorough knowledge of the equipment used and ability to operate the equipment skillfully
- Physical ability and manual dexterity to perform the work of this position
- Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices and rules of the safe operation of the assigned equipment and occupational hazards applicable to the work
- Good knowledge of the methods and practices used in servicing and maintaining equipment operated
- Ability to respond to inquiries/complaints in a manner that is conciliatory and sensitive to the needs of the public
- Ability to communicate effectively with citizens, team, and internal/external stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a productive and efficient team
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results in the context of a respectful, inclusive and service-minded style
