Reporting directly to the Service Supervisor, the Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic will be responsible for troubleshooting and overseeing repairs on a variety of Caterpillar equipment in the shop and field environments. This position will have a focus on Caterpillar engine models from C Series to 3600.

The successful candidate will be on a 7x7 shift and will work at our Power Systems – Calgary facility.

Job Description:

  • Trouble shooting equipment and perform equipment repairs and overhauls on Caterpillar engines
  • Interface with customers, both internal & external
  • Working with the supervisor on allocated tasks
  • Contribute to and promote a positive safety culture
  • Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment standards
  • Various related duties as required

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Heavy-Duty Technician
  • Power Systems experience required, must be capable and confident troubleshooting mechanically governed fuel delivery systems
  • Experienced performing in frame overhauls
  • Dedication to safety
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, written and verbal
  • Knowledge & experience of the Caterpillar product line will be considered an asset
  • Completed Finning S-level courses would be considered an asset
  • Strong team player with the ability to work alone successfully
