About the role


Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Program Clerk to join our dynamic Donor Relations & Collections East team. 

 

The Donor Relations & Collections East team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by providing administrative support to all program activities within the Supply Chain Team.  The Program Clerk will provide support in accordance with all regulations, standards and good manufacturing practice.

Formula for success

 

  • Leveraging your excellent customer service skills, you will provide clerical and administrative support to various departments as assigned.
  • Drawing experience in administrative skills, you will maintain and distribute departmental matrices, competency lists, controlled documents/binders and annual signature lists.
  • You will also provide support for records management including packing/shipping/retrieval of offsite storage records.
  • Utilizing your superior organizational skills, you will perform timekeeping functions, provide support to trainers and generate reports as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Desired education and skills

 

  • Completion of secondary education in related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent administrative office experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Microsoft Word and Microsoft, Excel and Outlook software.
  • SAP Payroll experience is an asset.
  • Effective communication in English (both verbally and in writing).
  • Exceptional strong attention to detail.

About the role

 

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a regular part-time Staffing Clerk to join our dynamic Donor Centre Team.

 

The Staffing Clerk is responsible for planning and preparing rotational work schedules to meet operational needs.

 

Formula for Success:

  • Assesses and plans staffing requirements to meet operational needs and processes within the Supply Chain Department
  • Prepares, maintains and posts work schedules
  • Performs timekeeping
  • Maintains records on relief staff such as names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, availability for work, suitable work area and hours worked

 

Desired Education and Skills:

  • Grade 12 plus four years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Ability to type 45 wpm
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with others effectively
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Ability to organize work
  • Ability to operate related equipment

The Logistics Team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by utilizing best practices to ensure the safe transportation of personnel, donors, equipment, blood products and supplies. Our Drivers do more than drive. In this role, you will assist in setting up booths, tables, and other equipment to ensure mobile donor events are ready for use in addition to transporting people and products integral to Canada’s Lifeline. 

 

Formula for success

  • Utilizing your experience with driving and transportation you will ensure that blood and blood products are transported in accordance with safety measures and procedures and are kept at an appropriate temperature. You will also ensure the safety of employees, donors and/or volunteers travelling with you.
  • Drawing on your knowledge of safe transportation procedures and your attention to detail, you will conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working order, and accurately complete all required documentation (including elogs for hours of service).
  • Leveraging your customer service skills, you will assist the collections team by greeting and helping donors book or rebook appointments as required.
  • You will assist with setting up systems and Wi-Fi connections for mobile events by utilizing your familiarity with technology and aptitude for learning new programs.  
  • You will be preparing, packaging and shipping blood products to our various Hospital Partners.
  • Utilizing your superior interpersonal and communication skills you will work with staff to carry and set up/dismantle equipment and supplies. You will also load and unload equipment and supplies at donor centre sites and upon return to centre. 

 

Desired education and skills  

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Must possess a valid and current Class 4 drivers license and a clean commercial drivers abstract from within the last 30 days.
  • Minimum 24 months verifiable professional driving experience as a commercial vehicle driver, within the last 3 years.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs.
  • A willingness to learn procedures in a regulatory environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English. A second language is considered an asset.

  • Shifts/hours - must be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts which are based on operational needs; length of shifts varies according to the event which takes place at Canadian Blood Services fixed and mobile donor centers. Shifts include days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
  • There will be no long haul or cross border driving required.
  • Travel will be required to attend mobile events, and transportation will be provided by Canadian Blood Services.
  • Physical capability to load, unload, push and carry heavy clinic equipment and supplies. This will include stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 50 lbs, pulling, and pushing up to 300 lbs on a wheeled platform.
