Under the supervision of an Electrical Engineering Technologist II, this position performs office and field work related to the electrical distribution system.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepares drawings and sketches for work orders and final drafting.
- Assists with the design of overhead and underground systems, street and pathway lighting and substations.
- Assists with work order preparation, cost estimation and budget estimates, as required.
- Performs field work, as required, including elementary surveying, contractor supervision in conjunction with appropriate trades, inspection, recording of installations and taking physical and electrical measurements.
- Locates and stakes the underground and other utility facilities for construction clearances.
- Performs related assignments from engineering staff.
- Prepares various reports, as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Abilities And Skills
- Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public and to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Physical ability to perform the assigned duties outside under varying weather conditions.
- Skill in the use of a computer with spreadsheet, database and AutoCAD software.
Education, Training And Experience Requirements
- Graduation from a recognized, two-year, post-secondary Electrical Engineering Technology program.
- Eligible for certification as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T) with the Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and Technicians.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
