The Light Rail Transit (LRT) Facilities Maintenance Section of the Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) Branch is looking for an individual to perform routine inspection and maintenance at LRT facilities. Join our exciting team today and help keep our LRT facilities operating at their best!

- Performs LRT station and transit garage inspections, identifies and diagnoses deficiencies in safety, cleanliness and building systems and equipment
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance to doors, windows, signs, lights, floors, walls, ceilings, mechanical/electrical equipment, furniture, route maps, information boards and supplementary equipment
- Performs preventive maintenance to the LRT station door systems, including door closures and hinges
- Participate in regular Health & Safety meetings, and help promote the City’s safety culture
- Provide input to help determine methods, materials, tools and equipment required to repair and maintain Transit facilities
- Order materials and supplies as required
- Operate City vehicles to transport materials and equipment to and from various job sites
- Install accessories and furniture such as benches, signs and washroom accessories as required
- Monitor and provide flagging for internal/external contractors and employees
- Perform administrative tasks including filling out work order history, updating records, and maintaining an inventory of stock items
- Carry out additional duties including, but not limited to, assisting with snow removal, cleaning mechanical and service areas, moving furniture and other materials, and cleaning debris from work sites
- Other related duties as required
- Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent, Grade 12 would be preferred
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in the maintenance repair of commercial building systems and mechanical equipment OR an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an LRT Class B Rule Book certification
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service
- A good understanding of technical trades such as HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, painting or electrical would be an asset
- Knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance of LRT facilities
- Skilled in the use and care of tools, equipment, and materials involved in the maintenance of LRT facilities
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in the assigned work
- Ability to understand, communicate in, read and write English at a level needed to meet job-related task and safety requirements
- Well developed interpersonal and collaboration skills including the ability to maintain effective and positive working relationships
- Ability to use Google Workspace (Gmail, Sheets, Docs) and electronic devices to perform the assigned work tasks, including reviewing/taking photographs, following work instructions, and completing documents related to maintenance activities
- Physical ability and manual dexterity to perform heavy manual labour for extended periods of time in various weather, environmental, and sometimes dangerous conditions, including in the presence of vibration, at heights, and in extreme cold
- Ability to perform work in underground claustrophobic conditions that are damp, dirty and cramped
- A valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
