JOB SUMMARY


Transit Information & Marketing is responsible for the delivery of transit customer information services and new customer information programs for wayfinding and consistency of the OC Transpo brand and messaging to improve the customer experience and transit services in the City of Ottawa.
 

Working in a high-volume, operational environment with critical deadlines, you provide creative, layout and production assistance in the development of a variety of transit-related graphics, design, illustration and printing tasks for OC Transpo. You utilize layout, design and photography software to produce high quality electronic artwork, and assist with inventory, distribution and print-coordination.  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


Completion of 2 year community college diploma in graphic arts or graphic and design production.
 

Minimum of 2 years of experience in design, page layout, desktop publishing and print production including print graphics, web graphics and illustration software.

KNOWLEDGE

  • General knowledge of public transit information program combined with knowledge of print production process
  • General knowledge of transit routes and services
  • Knowledge of OC Transpo Visual Identity Standards
  • Knowledge of the hardware and software used in desktop publishing and graphic arts
  • Understanding of Workplace Safety and Human Rights legislation
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards as they apply to printed material
  • Knowledge of bilingualism policy and clear print guidelines
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
  • General knowledge of the City of Ottawa and OC Transpo bus routes is an asset.

  • Skilled in digital photography and photo reproduction techniques
  • Possess computer literacy in MS Office Suite in a Windows environment including use of intra/Internet
  • Demonstrated ability in QuarkXpress, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Front Page
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design, page layout and illustration
  • Skilled in general page composition, including balance, symmetry, colour, style and paper selection
  • Able to demonstrate initiative, substantial creativity and resourcefulness
  • Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with a good command of English grammar and punctuation
  • Able to work with documents in both English and French
  • Able to anticipate and correct related problems
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, often stressful work environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to exercise sound judgment
  • Possess a work record of good attendance and job performance
