As a Telephone Service and Dispatch Operator, you will respond to service requests from business units and provide 24/7 monitoring and support to City personnel and facilities. Primary duties include:
- Review a large number of 3-1-1 Customer Service Requests.
- Dispatch service requests to the appropriate field crew or agency for action.
- Work with Tri-Services in some emergency situations to arrange for barricades and other traffic control devices.
- Monitor several alarm systems.
- Enter data in an accurate manner.
- Operate the Advanced Traveller Information System (ATIS) and the traffic advisory radio.
- Monitor and operate the various systems at the Roads Operations Centre (traffic cameras, electronic message boards, and other systems).
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED).
- At least 2 years of experience in a communication, call centre, or dispatch-related field.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel).
- Preference will be given to applicants with experience operating the 3-1-1 Customer Service Request (CSR) Motorola system and Hansen software.
- Excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and ability to work in a demanding environment.
