The Job Advertisement Template - General is responsible for ensuring proper, safe and timely handling of inbound and outbound trailers within the Terminal Yard. The successful candidate must ensure they maintain a clean work environment with a focus on proper handling techniques and safety. 

How You’ll Help

  • Move trailers to and from the dock doors.
  • Park and organize equipment in the yard.
  • Conduct a yard check which includes recording trailer numbers, refer settings, fuel level, trailer contents or seal numbers.
  • Conduct reefer check including unit number, reefer settings and fuel level. 
  • Seal trailers and verify required.
  • Ensure yard is clean and operated in a safe manner.
  • Report any incidents of safety violation or security breaches.
  • Other related duties as may be required. 

Your Skills & Experience: 

  • Previous Transportation or operational experience is preferred, at least 1 year experience driving a shunt truck is preferred. 
    • Class 1 license preferred but not necessary with applicable experience.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Safety-minded.
  • Communication skills – good.
  • Able to work deadlines in high transactional environment.
  • Results focused.
  • English, other languages an asset
  • Able to work with little supervision

At Day & Ross, our dock team is an important part of our business. As a Forklift Operator, you’ll help us handle inbound and outbound customer freight and protect it from damage. You'll also help us keep a safe and clean work environment on the dock.

 

How You’ll Help: 

  • Handle big and bulky freight on the dock, both on and off a forklift.
  • Follow TDG, WHMIS, and company policies, as well as any customer requirements.
  • Pay attention to the details. Receive and ship freight accurately and efficiently.
  • Other duties as required.

 

Your Skills & Experience:

The Credit Analyst is responsible for contributing to the resolution of accounts working collaboratively with customers as well as across functions of the business. Your responsibility is to collect outstanding moneys to increase our Working Capital. This position is all about communication and relationship building. This person must be committed to driving results to achieve strategic cash targets.

 

How You’ll Help

  • Maintain a portfolio of accounts, maintaining aged AR balances within KPI targets.
  • Identifies and develops strategies for the resolution of troubled accounts to minimize loss.
  • Resolve collection issues via phone, email, 3rd party payment houses, etc.
  • Collaborate across departments to identify problems. Work to remove barriers and find solutions to ensure the collection of outstanding invoices within payment terms and credit limit.
  • Monitor account portfolio aging daily to ensure alignment with established targets.
  • Facilitate virtual and in-person meetings to correct and align internal stakeholders with external customers.
  • Work with internal teams to identify and develop strategies for the resolution of invoice discrepancies to minimize DSO (days sales outstanding).
  • Interpret customer contracts.
  • Other related duties as may be required.

 

Your Skills & Experience: 

  • Post-secondary education in business administration, accounting or related field.
  • PCMP, CCA, or CCP designation through the Credit Institute of Canada, or equivalent, a strong asset.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a credit/collections role, preferably in the transportation industry. 
  • Adjudication experience a strong asset.
  • Exceptional customer service focus and relationship building skills.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written; persuasive, confident, with ability to articulate an appropriate message to various audiences clearly and concisely.
  • Strong MS Suite skills; Outlook, Excel; must possess the aptitude for learning new programs; AS400, Truckmate, Oracle, SideTrade, Power BI – an asset; 
  • Must be adaptable with a strong proficiency to learn new programs/platforms and find efficiencies.
  • Resiliency and persistence to resolve outstanding AR between external and internal stakeholders while maintaining the customer relationship.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to work under pressure in a fast paced setting while managing multiple customers.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline driven environment.
  • Strong sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate with others to meet customer expectations.
  • Maintain composure under high-pressure situations and difficult conversations.
  • Ability to understand transportation documentation and verbiage.
  • Ability to identify early warning signals relating to potential cash flow issues.
  • Understanding of freight flow, pricing, and order to cash process.

Operations Supervisor Full-time Job

Job Details

As an Operations Supervisor, you are responsible for the supervision of the overall dock operations, including day to day processes and procedures, Drivers, and Dock Workers, to ensure safety and optimal dock performance.

How You’ll Help: 

  • Provide daily guidance and motivation to Dock Workers (employees and agency workers) and Drivers (company and broker drivers) to ensure achievement of operational objectives for the terminal. 
  • Escalates issues of individual poor performance, inappropriate behavior, absenteeism, etc. to the Regional Manager. 
  • Communicate monthly performance stats to the team to help measure, develop and improve operational performance.
  • Maintain policies and procedures and ensure compliance with federal and provincial transportation, safety, and employment legislation.
  • Ensure all incidents (personal injuries, transportation collisions, spills, near misses, etc.) are promptly reported, documented, an investigation is initiated and corrective/preventative measures are implemented.
  • Hold effective, weekly tailgate meetings and ensure safety issues are addressed.
  • Works with the team and others, internal and external to the terminal, to resolve roadblocks to achievement of daily operational objectives.
  • Ensure the schedule for the terminal is followed. 
  • Work with the Terminal Manager to track monthly performance stats for the dock.
  • Other duties as required

Your Skills and Experience: 

  • Minimum of secondary education, with preference of post-secondary education (general stream), or a combination of education and experience.
  • Forklift certified
  • Trained in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods
  • WHMIS certified
  • Previous Transportation or operational experience is preferred, various roles within transportation would be beneficial 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a terminal setting, preferably in the transportation industry.
  • Experience leading a team of front line employees, managers, and supervisors
  • Contributing to the development of and managing to an annual operating budget.
  • Strong leadership skills specifically the ability to motivate and drive engagement to achieve objectives, facilitate conflict resolution, and to provide training
  • Advanced communication skills, particularly verbal
  • Computer skills, including the use of MS Word, Excel & Outlook, and web based programs as well as RF scanners. Experience using AS400, a strong asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills including customer focus
  • Results driven
  • Appropriate sense of urgency
  • Strong sense of safety; training and experience in similar safety sense environments a strong asset
