Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Service Saskatoon Customer Care Centre Supervisor, this position is responsible to provide support and information to customers regarding civic programs and civic services to ensures an exceptional customer experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Receives, documents and responds to a variety of emergent and non-emergent customer inquiries, service requests, concerns and complaints through various communication networks. Compiles, records and tracks customer feedback.
  • Communicates information to the citizens verbally and in writing ensuring responses are communicated as outlined within corporate processes and established service levels.
  • Provides 24 hour – 7 days a week program and service support for the Citizens of Saskatoon.
  • Provides professional in-person customer service and customer care by educating citizens on availability and use of online services.
  • Utilizes all functions within and supports training of the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. Manages and maintains information in the corporate knowledge database.
  • Updates communication for service alerts on the City website.
  • Responds to or redirects customer inquiries to the appropriate department and performs customer call backs after inquiry investigations, or as requested by Supervisor.
  • Receives and dispatches work to field staff, prioritizes calls according to urgency and importance and communicates with emergency services, as required.
  • Dispatches crews, vehicles or other field units to appropriate locations by use of radio, phone or computer. Monitors the route and status of field units to prioritize work schedule. Provides field units with information about work orders, traffic, obstacles, and requirements.
  • Acts as a liaison with scheduling groups and field staff to ensure work is completed and arranges overtime callouts as determined by established protocol.
  • Contacts Management on-call groups during emergency situations and for approval of additional staff in order to maintain service levels,
  • Provides suggestions and feedback to improve services offered, departmental processes and procedures citizen services-based knowledge and experience.
  • Assists with the training of new staff, as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a business college

Or

  • Graduation from a one year post-secondary business related program.
  • Four years’ related customer service and operational dispatch experience, including resolving concerns of customers and experience working in a customer service business systems Hosted Contact Centre and CRM.
  • Typing speed of 55 w.p.m.
  • Successful completion of, or ability to complete successfully, recognized customer service training.
  • Knowledge of office principles, procedures and systems.
  • Knowledge of business English and arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts, best practices, methods and/or tools used to store and deliver information such as interactive media, social media, or publication.
  • Ability to work as a team member with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

Under the supervision of the Time and Attendance Supervisor, this position ensures the integrity of the data, and the time and attendance information used for payroll processing in the City’s ERP system. This position provides front line support over day-to-day time and attendance transactions, investigates and resolves time related issues and problems, and responds to enquiries from employees, management and outside agencies.  

Duties & Responsibilities

1.    Coordinates, administers, reviews and corrects time sheet data for both hourly and salary employees, ensuring appropriate application of time rules and applicable premiums are in compliance with collective agreements, policies and procedures.
2.    Analyses and applies time off entitlements to accurately reflect special situations such as, leave of absences, Workers Compensation Board (“WCB”) loss time corrections, policy profile transfers etc.
3.    Prepares or assists with the preparation of reports, reconciliations, and analysis, including compliance monitoring for timesheet submission and approval, vacation balances, and other key performance indicators.
4.    Researches and responds to a variety of enquiries pertaining to time and attendance from staff, supervisors and managers in other departments, employees and outside agencies.  
5.    Assists with the review, development, implementation and revision of standards, controls, processes, procedures and forms related to the time and attendance system and is involved with identifying and developing new system initiatives and efficiencies.
6.    Processes time adjustments and bank pay out calculations for in-scope staff relating to terminations, retirements, demotions, promotions, suspensions, disciplinary actions, arbitration awards, leaves of absences, retroactive pay, and salary increments.
7.    Assists with testing time and attendance system software upgrades, enhancements relating to CBA changes and troubleshooting time errors as required.
8.    Responsible to develop and maintain procedure documentation for applicable time and attendance processes.
9.    Responsible to provide mentorship and training to Time and Attendance Administrators, and other members of the department as required.
10.    Performs al the duties of Time and Attendance Administrators as required.
11.    Performs other related duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements:
    Grade 12 education.
    Successful completion of a recognized one-year post-secondary business-related program (i.e., Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration).
    A professional Canadian payroll designation, such as Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) would be considered an asset.
    Five years' progressively related experience in time and attendance processing, scheduling, or other payroll related activities.
    Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite programs; including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint.  
    Experience working with payroll in a large size ERP (SAP-S4) enabled organization.  Experience with SAP S4/HANA Payroll, SuccessFactors, and WorkForce would be considered an asset.


Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
    Thorough knowledge of hourly and salaried payroll terminology.
    Thorough knowledge of federal and provincial laws (including WCB legislation), City regulations and union agreements applicable to payroll.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reviews and approves residential and non-complex commercial applications in accordance with applicable codes, bylaws, acts, and standards, and advises owners, designers and contractors of any application deficiencies.
  • Schedules, prioritizes, and inspects all buildings and other structures and installations during all phases of construction to ensure compliance with approved plans and applicable codes, bylaws, acts, and standards.
  • Maintains records and issues reports of inspections, including action taken and recommendations; conducts subsequent inspections to determine if infractions have been rectified.
  • Circulates plans for review and approval by all divisions and other civic departments and subsequently reviews approved plans for completeness; prepares plans for permit issuance; notifies the applicant that the permit is ready and issues the building permit.
  • Provides brochures and technical assistance related to the National Building Code, the Swimming Pool Bylaw, The Construction Codes Act and regulations under the Act.
  • Assists in the preparation, issuance, maintenance and closure of correction notices, stop work orders, and orders to remedy contravention.
  • Monitors assigned areas to ensure that building permits are obtained for construction activity.
  • Reviews older permits and files for closure and takes enforcement action as necessary to obtain compliance.
  • Performs special inspections related to complaints, fire damaged buildings, building relocations, as well as pre-approval inspections for such things as fireplaces, personal care homes and day care centres.
  • Assists with the development Departmental operational procedures based on the building plan review and inspection program, Bylaws, Codes and Act.
  • Assist with training of staff as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Training Requirements: 

  • Grade 12 education;
  • Graduation from a recognized, two-year, post-secondary architectural, mechanical, civil or other related engineering technology program, plus five years’ progressive related building construction experience;
    OR Possession of a Saskatchewan Journeyman Carpenter Certificate, including completion of a recognized apprenticeship program plus five years' progressive related journeyman trade experience.
  • Possession of a valid Level 2 Saskatchewan Building Official Licence.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's License, and a vehicle suitable for use in the performance of duties; AND

Who we are looking for:

Typically to be successful in this role, a person will have:

  • Seven to nine years' relevant and progressive experience providing guidance and services to leaders in the areas of workforce planning, talent management, employee relations, organizational development, organizational design and change management
  • Thorough knowledge of current philosophies and strategies used to enhance relationships between unions/employees and organizations
  • Experience working in a highly unionised environment, ability to advise on CBA contracts and support managers to navigate investigations, discipline procedures and basic grievances

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Access Transit Supervisor, this position provides safe, courteous and accessible door to door shared ride special needs transportation service to persons who, because of a permanent or temporary physical or cognitive disability, are unable to use the regular transit service with safety and dignity.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operates an accessible bus in a competent, safe and courteous manner in a variety of conditions and in accordance with all policies and procedures.
  • Receives, interprets and applies information and schedule direction from booking and scheduling staff.
  • Collects fares and provides passengers with service and policy information.
  • Assists passengers to and from the bus, boarding and exiting the vehicle and ensures their safety.
  • Performs safety checks.
  • Reports all operational problems, such as delays and mechanical problems, according to established procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Three years’ experience in public transportation service delivery including two years customer service experience.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 4 Driver’s Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Thorough knowledge of the City of Saskatoon geography.
  • Thorough knowledge of scheduling and dispatching procedures.
  • Knowledge of, and empathy with, the transportation needs of persons with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate effectively as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize tasks and work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and manage conflicts in a positive and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with the public, other professionals in various fields, co-workers and civic officials.
