In this role, you may be called upon to do on-call delivery agent OR on-call postal clerk work: 


•    On-call delivery agent (also known as a letter carrier). You’ll be the face of Canada Post in your community and make sure customers and businesses get the mail and parcels they’re waiting for.


•    On-call postal clerk- you will have the opportunity to work various shifts, including days, evenings, overnights and weekends. This temporary on-call position is an excellent opportunity to learn about the business of mail operations, as well as the great jobs available at Canada Post.


 

Job Responsibilities

 

As a Delivery Agent-What will you do?


•    You’ll start your day in the depot, sorting and preparing the day’s deliveries


•    You’ll load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle


•    You’ll then spend most of your day outside, delivering mail and packages by foot or by vehicle to customers on your route


•    You’ll return to the depot to unload the day’s incoming mail and packages for later delivery

 

 

Job Responsibilities (continued)

 

As a Postal Clerk-What will you do?


•    You’ll work inside a sorting facility, sorting mail and packages


•    Work various shifts (may include evenings/nights and weekends)


•    Operation of material handling equipment 


•    Receiving and accepting mail items


•    Sort, scan and sequence and batch mail items


•    Transfers and dispatching of parcels and packets


•    Perform other postal clerk duties as required 


•    Completes reports and documentation

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

What must you have?


•    A valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver's abstract required)


•    The physical ability to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items weighing up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day


•    The ability to work in all types of weather


•    The availability to be on-call, possibly evenings and weekends 


•    Bilingual English/ French (an asset)

  • Communicates widely for the department by writing email messages, letters and memos and creating first-draft reports and other documents as required by the Academic Chair;

  • Provides hospitality as the first point of contact with students, faculty, and external stakeholders;

  • Develops and maintains various department and program-related systems and processes;

2. Assists the Academic Chair and faculty with administering and adhering to college policies and procedures:

  • Distributes and ensures prompt return of a variety of student-related documents including: advanced standing, exemptions, incomplete grades, supplemental grade assignments, plagiarism. Learning contracts, prior learning assessment and PLAR recognition initiatives, withdrawals and course add/drop requests;

  • Supports the administration of program assessment tools (Key Performance Indicators and course assessments);

  • Attends to processes related to student enrolment management systems and procedures by locating directives and following processes and timelines as required;

  • Attends to processes related to Comms course outline submission deadlines and produces Comms outline completion reports for review by the Chair;

  • Acts as the departmental hub in the dissemination of accurate and timely information.

 

3. Organizes and attends to details relating to all department meetings:

  • Communicates broadly within the department and arranges meetings for:

    • Program Advisory Committees (PAC)

    • High Risk meetings

    • Faculty/Staff meetings

    • Evaluation & Promotion / Final Grades

    • Program Quality Review

    • Student meetings

    • Outside Stakeholders

    • Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN)

  • This work includes booking rooms, preparing related materials, ordering and arranging for meeting refreshments as required;

  • Creates, posts and distributes minutes and other meeting-related documents;

  • Maintains committee member lists;

This position is for our Extendicare Mapleview Home, located in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.

 

What you’ll be doing:

Actively assign employees work schedules and maintain staffing schedules for all departments at the home/facility using Workday Scheduling System.
Manage all vacant schedules due to employee absences, including unplanned absences, vacation requests, LOAs and termination by reaching out to employees and staffing agencies and Utilizes Call Multiplier (open shift management tool) to coordinate outreach.
Validates and reconciles scheduled hours worked by employees through daily reports. Capture activities in time blocks accurately. Ensure actual time is reflected for payroll approvals and submissions. Submit validated hours to payroll. 
Assists with leave administration activities including completing forms, challenging claims, and liaising with WCB and investigate Health and Safety incidents and administer incident reports.
Assist with new resident administration processes, such as entering residents into PCC, creating clinical charts, liaising with families and community.
Conduct Joint Health and Safety meetings, record, and post meeting minutes, and track corrective actions to closure.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Executive Assistant, the Councillor’s Assistant will provide a comprehensive range of services in support of the Councillor and the Councillor’s office.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Councillor’s Assistant is responsible for providing administrative assistance as required by the Elected Official. 
Responsibilities may include preparing written correspondence and reports, maintaining existing spreadsheets and record systems, organizing meetings and events, answering calls and responding to inquiries, verifying and processing expenditures, liaising with other community stakeholders, and completing other administrative duties.

The Councillor’s Assistant may be asked to assist with community events, communications, constituency case work, and other tasks as assigned by the Councillor or supervising staff member.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Post Secondary School Diploma
One year Office Administration or Business Program
A minimum of 3 years experience in providing administrative services is required. Experience providing support to an elected official is desirable.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

A valid Ontario unrestricted “G” class driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated.

  • Driver’s License Requirement:  A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
