Maintenance Planner, Mechanical Full-time Job

Responsibilities:
• Identify and handle all factors relevant to achieving safe, environmentally responsible and cost-effective maintenance plans
• Improve resource productivity by identifying planning and execution efficiencies while minimizing costs for the equipment while ensuring that safety is built into every work order
• Work closely with various teams such as operations and reliability engineering to develop seamless interfaces between functions, to enable the safe, consistent and reliable planning of all mechanical related maintenance activities
• Manage and adjust planning priorities according to a combination of factors such as operational requirements, plant risk, defect analysis, and major event calendar dates
• Prepare job plans to include the logical sequencing of associated tasks, taking into account multi-craft alignment
• Maintain and continuously improve job plans and task lists, through analysis of previous work order history, soliciting planning feedback, performing workplace observations, and field walk downs
• Ensure compliance to all of our relevant policies and standards including the management of change (MOC) process and maintenance business processes and provide input into the development of procedures and standards
• Be a key member in the integrated maintenance team, working hand-in-hand with reliability engineers, supply chain management, and operations
Minimum Requirements:
• Five years of maintenance, planning and/or reliability experience in mechanical maintenance based roles, with at least two of those years being hands-on planning experience
• Exceptionally strong communication and social skills, with the ability to work professionally with others at various levels
• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite with working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (preferably SAP)
• Deep understanding of maintenance planning and scheduling concepts, maintenance practices, performance measures, scheduling tools and techniques
• Proven strong safety mindset and display a preventative and contingency based approach to planning with a continuous improvement mindset
• Capable of handling several tasks while focusing on quality and completion of deliverables
Location and other Key Details:
• You will work out of the Suncor Centre Office located at 130 Kelsey Drive, St. John’s, Newfoundland
• The shift schedule is a Monday to Friday, 40 hour week
• Occasional travel offshore is required
• Qualified residents of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador will be given first consideration in the staffing of this position

The ideal candidate for this position is a team player who possesses outstanding communications skills and has strong problem-solving abilities. The candidate, who will provide maintenance and asset care support to the operation, will be comfortable in a fast paced, multi-tasked, consumer packaged goods environment.
The Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will also possess the following skills:
- Willingness and ability to always practice safe work habits

- Ability to troubleshoot problems quickly and to complete repairs effectively and efficiently
- Dependable, with the ability to work overtime, including weekends, when necessary
- Ability to work in a team environment, involving shiftwork, with minimal supervision

- Ability to analyze diagrams, schematic drawings and service manuals to determine work procedures, troubleshoot equipment, order parts, etc.
- Ability to perform predictive, preventative and operational maintenance using procedures such as instrument calibrations, thermography, etc.
- Experience working with high-speed packaging equipment, pumps, compressors, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics and PLC's
- Responsible for troubleshooting equipment performance problems on the floor using controls systems knowledge and experience
- Responsible for maintaining documentation for PLC program changes and on the production floor
- Programming experience with Allen Bradley, and Siemens PLC’s.
- Mechanical experience / hydraulic and pneumatic systems an asset
- Experience in CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) also an asset.
- Support the new equipment design reviews when required to review the status of the machine design and provide input in reference to the plant’s specifications and good design practice
- Participate in maintaining spare parts to ensure we can support any potential equipment failures on controls related items
- Respond to any equipment downtime issues in plant
- Support equipment capital improvement projects in the brewery
In addition the candidate must:
- Work with a safety mindset and ensure brewery and Asset Care compliance with all relevant EH&S legislation and regulations
- Champion a culture of proactive and preventative maintenance with safety, quality, and reliability as key priorities
- Lead the team's pursuit of continuous improvement under the umbrella of World Class Supply Chain (WCSC)
- Be responsible for developing and following the brewery Asset Care strategy aligned to MCBC's
- Always operate in alignment with Our Purpose, Ambition and Values
The Other Qualifications:
- Red Seal certified Electrician with either a dual ticket in instrumentation or exceptional PLC and controls/field experience
- 5+ years’ experience in a high-speed, manufacturing environment
- Ability to participate in a culture of continuous improvement with an EHS mindset
- Experience in an Asset Care department is a plus
