We are looking for a Senior FTM / IIB Developer to join the application development team. You will be responsible for delivering applications designed to resolve business system needs while working closely with various partners across IT. Duties include design and development for FTM applications in a WMB/IIB environment. You will be involved in all aspects of the development and or maintenance process within a well-established team. The preferred candidate would have experience working directly with the IBM FTM (Financial Transaction Manager) product.

What you will be doing

The Inside Sales Representative (ISR) works closely with the Wholesaler to generate sales and develop new business along with servicing and managing existing clients about Dynamic products. As a vital member of the sales team, the ISR must be exceedingly knowledgeable in company and competitor products and policies, industry changes, market conditions, and client business practices. The ISR uses daily phone contact, rather than face to face meetings, to build relationships and increase sales.  The ISR must also work closely with the SA, including them in the work of the team. 

 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Supports the Wholesaler by promptly following up on meetings, road shows, events and web casts;
  • Initiates phone contact with clients to begin or expand on existing relationships (20 activity points or calls a day);
  • Keeps an archive of all the relevant information pertaining to the products, policies, procedures and rules for dissemination to the clients;
  • Ensure regional events and road shows are well attended by using outbound call campaigns;
  • Occasionally, some representatives will travel and attend their own individual meetings. Will be required to attend meetings with the wholesaler at least once a month;
  • Collaborate with the SA to determine priorities and tasks to be completed;
  • Make daily Purchase and Redemption calls to clients in order to identify trends, prospects and first time tickets;
  • Create broadcast emails with pertinent marketing and product information to advisors via ODD filters and share with the sales department;
  • Data Mine using the Diagnostic Selling Process & Populate the CRM system (OOD) with all the information retrieved during phone calls and surveys;
  • Participate in national, regional, departmental and project group meetings, sharing feedback and information;
  • Assist wholesaler in the segmentation of the client base to define the service levels and to ensure sales from various distribution channels and firms (250-400);
  • Act as a liaison with the Product Manager in order to set up Manager meetings, conferences calls and web casts;
  • Escalate client issues to appropriate department and your wholesaler; and
  • Involved in special projects as required
  • Assist wholesaler in developing a strategic business plan for the year and review it quarterly with the team to increase sales from advisors in our territory;

Requirements

 

  • Minimum High School Diploma (Grade 12).
  •  Prefer 2 years’ experience in an administrative role however not essential. 
  • A general knowledge of the financial services industry and the ability to learn quickly are definite assets.
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of MS Office 2010 including:
  • Word  – used extensively;
  • Excel  – used extensively for expenses and databases (level varies based on group);
  • PowerPoint  – used occasionally to provide assistance with print jobs and minor edits;

  • You will play a pivotal role in supporting and managing the portfolio of applications and vendor system(s).  You will work closely with a talented team of quantitative analysts, traders, and developers to create and implement algorithmic strategies that capitalize on market opportunities.
  • We will consider a range of experience levels and adjust role, compensation, and title accordingly. 

 

Key responsibilities are:

  • Design and implement back-end services to transform real-time or static data.
  • Design and implement front-end for displaying real-time trading and static data.
  • Collaborate with the front office to design interfaces offering creative data visualization.
  • Design customizable solutions to maximize usability across business lines.
  • Develop automated test suite for position tracking, trading, and back-testing.
  • Perform support of production trading systems to troubleshoot and quickly resolve any issues or questions.
  • Manage and co-ordinate with vendor(s) for support and upgrades of systems.

 

Functional Competencies

  • Strong programming background, including developing high-performance full-stack applications in Angular 2+, Spring Boot, and Python is a must.
  • Programming Languages: Java, Java Script, Type Script, Python, and Shell Script is a must.
  • Databases: MS-SQL and Oracle is an asset
  • Libraries: AG Grid, NumPy, Pandas is an asset
  • Containerization: Kubernetes and Docker is an asset
  • Understanding of data integration using REST, socket.io and server sent events.
  • Effective written & verbal communication skills to bridge between technical content and business objectives.
  • Experience working on agile development teams.
  • Motivated to keep up to date with the latest technology and programming techniques.
  • CI/CD experience using tools like Maven, BitBucket, Jenkins and Artifactory is nice to have.

 

Education Requirements

  • STEM Post-secondary degree (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
  • Canadian Securities Course or Trader Training Course an asset.
  • Demonstrated capital markets / quantitative experience is an asset.

The Technology Control Testing team plays an important role in the Bank’s Three Lines of Defense Framework, providing First Line of Defense for the Enterprise portfolio on all technology risk domains, including Cyber Security, Data Privacy, Identity & Access Management, Change Management, Software Lifecycle Management, Patch and Vulnerability Management, Incident Management, Disaster and Backup Recovery, Third-Party Management, and Audit & Regulatory Issue Remediation.

 

The Role

This role is part of a strategic and comprehensive IT Risk Management Function within Technology Control Testing and ensures control testing execution and reporting in accordance with regulatory expectations, risk appetite, organizational risk practices and evolving business practices. The role includes significant coordination and engagement with peers across all business lines and technology functions. This includes 1st, 2nd, and 3rd lines of defense for Technology in the execution of risk management activities, inclusive of regular updates, formal reporting and managing remediation commitments identified (e.g. audit findings).

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. 
  • Assist Risk Owners in adhering to policies, frameworks, standards and guidelines through active engagement and guidance.
  • Act as a primary liaison between the risk owners and other risk groups to lead the facilitation and execution of risk management activities.
  • Test design and operating effectiveness attributes for technology controls
  • Conduct IT General controls and automated control walkthroughs and assesses controls for effectiveness.
  • Identify, assess, prioritize, and report on significant IT risks for IT and aligned business areas. This will require working with equivalent Risk Advisors in various business areas.
  • Ensure findings are entered into the enterprise Global Issue Management system and in full compliance of all policies and common standards, including the IT Risk Management Policy and Framework.
  • Support development of monitoring tools to evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of the key controls in the Business. Monitoring will include reviewing key indicators, sample testing and conducting thematic reviews.
  • Assist documentation and monitoring the progress of remedial actions for issues identified through Technology Control testing and by others, including Internal Audit, Compliance, regulators, and management self-identified issues.
  • Collaborate with IT Risk Senior Managers for other business units to improve risk management practices across the enterprise.
  • Support ad-hoc, special, and/or focused reviews as necessary, as well as other duties and projects as assigned.

 

What you’ll bring to succeed

Education / Experience

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, cloud security, and IT processes
  • Requires an undergraduate degree combined with an Information Security professional designation such as CISM, CISA, CCSP, CISSP or CRISC are desirable.
  • Experience with the following is recommended: NIST, ISO27001, COBIT, CIS frameworks. Exposure to SOX requirements
  • Need experience in a wide area of risk controls such as vendor risk, application risk, infrastructure risk, application risk.
  • Reporting skills to prepare status of IT control framework to senior management.
  • Experience in other risk management or IT Audit roles (across any line of defense) is desirable.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish is preferred but not required

 

Soft Skills 

  • Effective communication, facilitation, and presentation skills for developing communication strategies for Executive approval through to implementation of strategies and programs.
  • Ability to balance competing or conflicting goals of various departments and stakeholders which requires a mature, diplomatic approach and advanced negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to challenge leadership team especially when there is a need to balance control and compliance priorities with competing objectives.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and deliver on tight deadline.
