Air Canada is presently looking for a dynamic individual to fill a permanent full-time position as a Facility Maintenance Mechanic at the Calgary Airport.

 

Description: 

  • Perform preventative maintenance & servicing to Building related mechanical equipment. 
  • Investigate and troubleshoot faulty Hangar Doors, Overhead doors, fire doors, motors, gear boxes, etc. 
  • Ability toinstall, maintain, repair, dismantle, and reassemble machinery. 
  • Ability to use welding equipment, hand, and power tools as necessary. 
  • Perform minor repairs including replacement of gearboxes, sprockets, chains, door panels  
  • Perform visual inspections of buildings to maintain Building Code standards. 
  • Ensure all work is completed in a safe manner and complies with applicable industry standards. 
  • Performing other facility related duties as requested. 
  • Team oriented individual with demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and self directed. 
  • Able to work under pressure. 
  • Able to work shifts, including weekends & participate in on-call rotation.

Qualifications

  • Must posses a valid DVS (Diploma of Vocational Studies). 
  • Must posses valid Driver’s licence with clean abstract  
  • Must posses an Interprovincial Journeyman Millwright license or Red Seal  
  • Minimum 5 years field experience. 
  • Knowledge of building mechanics, Hangar door systems, control systems, Mechanical system operation, MIG welding, CMMS  
  • Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be detailed oriented. 
  • Basic computer knowledge (Word, Excel, e-mail and internet). 
  • Employees in this role, conduct safety-critical work and as such, Air Canada medical standards must be met in order to qualify for the role. Candidates will be subject to a medical evaluation, including a drug and alcohol test and are expected to be free of any intoxicating substances.

Air Canada Maintenance represents one of the key financial drivers for the airline as a whole.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver value added service to ACM Inventory Planning business unit by identifying, and evaluating profitability enhancing opportunities and strategies, internal process changes and new cost savings opportunities.
  • Develop and manage effective working relationships with branch leader and strategic partners to ensure buy-in of solutions and changes in processes and strategy.
  • Master TRAX financial transactions: provide guidance on proper accounting impact of branch transactions and work with Finance-Audits team to report, identify and assess transactional inaccuracies. 
  • Master Balance Sheet transactions, understanding, flow of costs. Partner with YWG, Supply Accounts, Audits and BFO team to educate team on accounting principles to best support the business and sound financial decisions.
  • Support Capital Budgeting initiatives for all Air Canada Maintenance business units. Provide timely and accurate reporting and support all related financial activities.
  • Partner with YWG Finance to ensure all aspects of inventory are in line with both accounting and corporate direction
  • Lead the development and implementation of Financial Performance Indicators for better understanding of the cause-and-effect relationship of costs and to assure the efficiency and the performance of the business unit.
  • Lead, collaboratively, with the ACM branch, process improvement initiatives that provide better financial controls, understanding, and strategic decision-making around Inventory and other financial processes 
  • Ensure a consistently high-level of quality in service provided relative to both timelines and accuracy
  • Work with the Power BI team to update and improve inventory dashboards
  • Work with Manager Financial Application & Services on the design, testing and documenting of the Air Canada Unifier project 
  • Other Ad-hoc financial analysis and project management support

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience 
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting or Finance is required
  • Accounting and/or business designation CPA is an asset
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills to analyze and report back on complex data 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with others 
  • Self-started, energetic with strong sense of initiative and creativity 
  • Ability to learn financial systems quickly 
  • Demonstrated organization skills and ability to work under pressure and reach to changing timelines
  • Ability to build and maintain advanced financial models in Microsoft Excel and intermediate to advanced PowerPoint & Power BI skills.  
  • Experience working with Alteryx is an asset

The Crew Productivity Manager is accountable to lead attendance programs and processes, ensuring consistent application up to and including individual case handling and outcomes in order to reduce absenteeism, identify misuse of programs, reduce overall costs and achieve targets. Responsibilities:

  • Manage, monitor and co-ordinate various activities and processes to achieve excellence in the areas of attendance.
  • Lead the development and enhancement of all attendance programs and processes.

  • Lead, motivate and coach cabin crew members; provide constructive feedback, action plans, yearly goals and objectives.
  • Anticipate, identify and resolve attendance issues, including program abuse, using a results-oriented approach to enhance overall employee reliability.

  • Proactively manage Return-to-Work, WCBC, WSIB and GDIP employee files focusing on the individual’s safe and early return to work.

  • Proactively follow up with cabin crew members to implement necessary corrective actions based on daily absenteeism reports. This includes addressing patterns, instances of travel during book-off status, and cases where sick time is exhausted.
  • Analyze and challenge existing processes in an effort to make continuous improvements.
  • Uphold positive relationships with Operational Management and Workforce Management engaging in two-way feedback, co-sharing of initiatives, concerns and Company directives 
  • Continuously communicate and strengthen relationships with outside departments (i.e. OHS, Wellness, Claims etc.).
  • Ensure consistent application of all policies and processes (i.e. medical note substantiation handling etc.) 
  • Ensure provisions of the Official Languages Act are applied to the daily work environment as required
  • Maintain appropriate and thorough documentation of all files.

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary degree in a relevant field (e.g. Human Resources, Business Administration) or equivalent years of experience in a similar role.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in managing absenteeism or in similar roles. 
  • Practical experience in attendance management, programs, and cost savings.
  • A good working knowledge of Corporate Absenteeism Management Programs.
  • Airline experience, with specific knowledge of In-Flight Service is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong employee focus, treating all employees with professionalism and care.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, able to apply creative solutions that have a positive impact on the operations.
  • Recognized ability to work under pressure, handle stressful situations and maintain flexibility.
  • Able to influence, convince and create mutually acceptable solutions in the context of conflicts.
  • Experience in working with a unionized workforce, with a knowledge of In-flight Service Collective Agreements is considered an asset. 
  • Experience with In-Flight Service procedures, programs, technology, principles, theories, and/or ideas.
  • Knowledge of Peoplesoft, and Netline, is considered an asset.  
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
