CPIC Operator Full-time Job

Job Details

Duties:

  1. Types investigation and occurrence reports, from forms and dictaphone, into Saskatoon Information Management System (SIMS).  Notifies Sergeant of report errors and assigns report files to the appropriate sections, as required.
  2. Operates computer terminals and police software systems; i.e. SIMS, Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), Justice Automated Information Network (JAIN) and Criminal Offenders Photograph System (COPS), to enter, confirm, remove, retrieve and revise data and respond to enquiries.  Retrieves information from Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) database.
  3. Responds to internal and external enquiries over the counter and by police radio, telephone, facsimile and Mobile Data Terminal (MDT).
  4. Enters and maintains adult and young person court documents into CPIC
  5. Sends and distributes messages by fax and by MDT and CPIC terminals.
  6. Types, files, retrieves, enters, deletes and scans documents, including warrants and reports, as required.
  7. Assists with jury enquiries, as required.
  8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Post-Secondary School Certificate in Business or related field.
  • Typing speed of 55 w.p.m.
  • Two years’ police office experience.
  • Knowledge of CPIC, SIMS, JAIN and COPS police computer systems.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Criminal Code and provincial statutes.
  • Ability to pass the Saskatoon Police Service security clearance process.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail.
  • Ability to speak clearly and distinctly.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with police officers, court officials and civic employees.
  • Skill in the operation of office equipment, including a computer.

Hours:

Shift work and weekend work is involved; 12-hour rotating shifts as follows:

  • 3 Day Shifts, 2 Night Shifts, 5 Days Off;
  • 2 Day Shifts, 2 Night Shifts, 5 Days Off;
  • 2 Day Shifts, 3 Night Shifts, 4 Days Off.
