Main Purpose & Function 
This is skilled and semiskilled arboriculture work involving pruning, maintenance, planting and removal of boulevard and park trees. Tree pruning and removal is hazardous work performed with minimum supervision.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• The Arborist IA is the lead worker responsible for allocating, checking and reviewing the work of an arboriculture operations crew.
• The successful candidate will respond to enquiries from the general public in the course of carrying out assignments, participate in preparing presentations, public demonstrations and provides on the job training to subordinates in tree care operations.
• The Arborist IA will also be responsible for performing tree pruning operations around energized hydro lines and pruning boulevard and park trees using power saws, and other hand tools. This position would operate an aerial bucket truck and climb boulevard and park trees when required, using ropes and safety harness, operating a chipping machine as required and occasionally carrying out cabling and bracing.
• Additional responsibilities include planting and removing trees as required with using hand tools and mechanized equipment.
• The Arborist IA will have to lift and transplant established trees to accommodate site modifications, identifies diseased trees or trees that are potentially hazardous to public safety, and undertakes emergency control action as required and informs superiors of situations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Completion of the tenth school grade plus considerable experience in street tree operations and in the operation of a boom truck, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Experience in the use of climbing equipment and rigging techniques, and in planting and transplanting techniques.
• Utility Arborist – Certificate of qualification is required.
• Level I First Aid Certificate is required.

Main Purpose and Function

Reporting to the Managing Director of Social Policy & Projects, the Social Planner II is responsible for coordinating major social planning projects often involving complex and sensitive issues, and supervises a small team to help improve the social well-being of Vancouver residents, communities, and neighbourhoods to create a healthy city for all.The work requires considerable liaison with government representatives and officials and members of Boards, Commissions, private agencies and community organizations.

The initial of focus of this Social Planner II position is to provide collaborative leadership and strategic direction that contributes to the ongoing development and implementation of the Healthy City Strategy (HCS), the City’s long term sustainability strategy for health and wellbeing. The HCS encourages senior government partnerships and investments and align long term priorities for the City’s capital and operational investments, leverages additional resources and ensures that resources are targeted to Council approved priorities and community needs.

The Social Planner II applies socio–economic theories and practice, provides strategic leadership and project management skills and leads the development and implementation of multi-sectoral initiatives involving senior leaders, community partners, and civic agencies to achieve key goals and targets. The position also contributes to monitoring systems to track and report out on progress on targets, indicators, implementation, and alignment to Mayor and Council and other stakeholders; makes presentations and reports to senior management and Council and ensures that the strategy aligns with corporate objectives. Qualifications
Education and Experience:

• Experience working in a municipal planning setting, and an extensive understanding and experience with good results in multi-sectoral planning and implementation of strategic and complex social initiatives. As a participant in the Manufacturing Rotational Program working in Fraser Valley, Canada you will be part of the Integrated Supply Chain Team.  This role is a 12-month rotational program through the 5 departments within the brewery you are located in.
