Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck, truck-trailer, and automotive systems
• The candidates should be able to inspect, test, diagnose, and locate faults and malfunctions in mechanical units and automotive systems
• The candidates should be able to perform road tests on motor vehicles and test automotive systems and components to ensure proper functionality
• The candidates should be able to estimate parts and labor costs for vehicle maintenance and repairs and perform scheduled maintenance services
• The candidates should be able to test, adjust, and repair mechanical units and components to meet manufacturer’s specifications
• The candidates should be able to advise customers on work performed, future repair requirements, and provide customer service
• The candidates should be able to complete reports documenting problems identified and work performed, and review work orders with the supervisor

Position Summary: Provides timely, quality, cost effective maintenance for FedEx Express vehicle fleet and ground support equipment which requires preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, modifications and documentation.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalency
• Have 3 years fleet, automotive, or truck vehicle maintenance experience.
• Automotive Service Technician or Truck & Coach Technician  
• Completed vehicle apprentice program with certified diploma
• Must possess valid driver’s license and a good driving record
• Working knowledge of the use and operation of all service garage equipment and testing equipment, gauges and tools normally associated with troubleshooting and repair of gasoline, diesel, and propane equipment.
• Basic electronic troubleshooting skills
• Possession of a complete set of hand tools including metric sizes.
• Must have the ability to lift 70 lbs and maneuver any package weighing up to 150 lbs with appropriate equipment
• Must be able to lift and maneuver heavy vehicle components above 70 Ibs with the help of appropriate lifting mechanical assistance
• Basic Inter/Intranet preferred, MS Office, Basic Word, Outlook preferred

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma plus one (1) year of post secondary training from a Community College or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency;
• Must have over five (5) years of work experience in a computerized traffic signal control or similar environment;
• Must have a current Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) as an Electrician 442A or 309A, including an apprenticeship, under the Tradesperson’s Qualifications Act, as offered through the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
• Must hold and maintain a current, valid and lawful Class ‘D’ Driver’s License with a ‘Z’ endorsement
• OR Must hold and maintain a current valid and lawful Class G Driver's Licence in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for the purposes of operating a City of Windsor vehicle and must attain a current, valid and lawful Class ‘D’ Driver’s License with a “Z” endorsement in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for the purposes of operating a City of Windsor vehicle within the probationary/confirmation period.  Failure to obtain a current, valid and lawful Class ‘D’ Driver’s License with a ‘Z’ endorsement in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act within the probationary/confirmation period will result in disqualification
