We are looking for a Plant Engineer to join this dynamic and resourceful team. In this role, you will provide professional engineering leadership, direction, and guidance to one or more Production Unit Teams (PUTs) in Suncor's Midstream Business Unit (BU) to support operations with safe, cost-effective, and timely execution of a subset of high-profile risk mitigation, economic and regulatory compliance projects/initiatives across Suncor’s Midstream assets in Central/Eastern Canada.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering 

• Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation or immediately eligible for registration

• 8+ years relevant Oil and Gas industry experience, preferably in Refinery, Pipelines or Distribution facilities

• 8+ years of Engineering experience with accountability for technical management of change processes (including technical risk assessments), identifying technical limitations that may require equipment or system design changes while understanding of compliance with federal/provincial regulatory requirements

• Expertise in the development of complex, multi-disciplinary projects and familiarity with the interrelationship of all engineering disciplines to cater to portfolio of high profile economic and regulatory compliance projects across the business unit

• Demonstrated understanding of industry engineering standards, best practices, tools, applications in support of development of safe, reliable, cost effective and timely engineering deliverables

• Excellent communication (written, oral, and listening), change management, non-authoritative leadership, and organizational skills

• Excellent proficiency in English is required; proficiency in French would be considered an asset

Responsibilities:

• Lead engineering work and support the development and implementation of capital projects for capital equipment and system design changes, including development of detailed problem definitions

• Accountable for fit-for-purpose engineering deliverables such as construction work packages, engineering design basis and detailed engineering assessments and calculations with support from external EPCs as needed

• Evaluate and support required changes from any impacts to facility siting, operating envelopes, safe operating limits, PHAs, PSI and corrosion control

• Ensure all changes comply with Suncor and industry technical standards and support the development of technical deviation approvals

• Ensure operations teams understand of changes, and any new processes/equipment changes required to mitigate any identified risks

• Ensure operations considerations are included in evaluating/delivering projects and changes successfully

• Coordinate availability of key resources including automation, engineering, EH&S, and operations to support completion of evaluations, changes, and system commissioning

• Ensure all documentation is properly updated and all stakeholders are engaged throughout implementation of all changes, including completing pre-startup safety reviews

Location and other Key Details:

• You will work out of our Oakville office, located at 3275 Rebecca Street, Oakville, ON

• Relocation support will be provided

• Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs

• This role requires frequent travel to terminals in Eastern Canada (expected travel is 10-15% per month)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Controls Engineer is primarily responsible for researching, developing, designing and testing electronic components products and systems. The Controls Engineer will develop and improve manufacturing control systems and oversee documentation on program changes.

• Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Karmax.
• Perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with Section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments.
• Organizing and coordinating projects with other technical employees to ensure that productions and quality standards outlined by the company and/or customer requirements are fulfilled.
• Assists in the training of Trade Co-op Students, Apprentices and Journeyman in accordance with the principles of the Employee Charter and the policies and procedures set out in the Karmax Handbook.
• Assist in plant support, troubleshooting, repairs and system improvements.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• University Degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering
• Strong knowledge of PLCs and Controls

Reporting to the Manager, Traffic and Streetlighting, or designate, provide technical guidance and assistance to traffic engineering related matters, as well as, maintain, improve and provide technical support for the City's Streetlighting System and Municipal Parking System.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

• Duties include coordinating the processing of permit applications for buildings and performing plans examination and structural analysis of complex structures
• Advising and guiding the Plans Examiners with respect to structural analysis problems and techniques

• Must be a Professional Engineer and a member in good standing with the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario
• Membership in good standing with the Ontario Building Officials Association is considered an asset
• Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing BCIN qualifications in the following disciplines would be an asset; Legal, House, Small Buildings, Large Buildings, Complex Buildings, Building Structural, Plumbing House, Plumbing All Buildings, HVAC House, Building Services, On-Site Sewage, Detection Lighting and Power, and Fire Protection
• Established skills and experience using PC equipment and related software applications
• Above average mathematical knowledge
• High degree of structural design/analysis competence required and with respect to related building science technical standard
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to deal effectively and tactfully with a broad range of management personnel, elected officials, staff, external agencies, consultants, contractors, other levels of government and the general public
• Possess strong reasoning, administrative, research and analytical skills
• Possession and maintenance of an Ontario Driver's Licence, minimum Class "G", in good standing
