Job Details

Job Summary

Reports to the Planning & Scheduling Manager. This position assists in the coordination and delivery of municipal infrastructure Operations and Maintenance programs, as an Engineer-in-Training.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Assist with the development of condition and performance rating systems
  2. Assist with development and implementation of capacity planning, work measurement and tracking methods to support continuous improvement, reporting and benchmarking activities
  3. Assists with establishing preliminary programs and analysis for the operations, maintenance, and rehabilitation of infrastructure.
  4. Assists with the research and development of operations and maintenance policies, procedures, and applicable manuals.
  5. Assists with program consultation with other stakeholder groups.
  6. Assists with coordinating the planning, design and implementation of municipal infrastructure Operations and Maintenance programs.
  7. Performs and arranges inspections and ensures compliance of construction sites with specifications and Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
  8. Communicates effectively with field staff, management, co-workers, contractors and other civic departments to assist with planning, scheduling and coordinating work.
  9. Researches, including via other jurisdictions, and compiles statistical and other information to prepare reports and recommendations related to assigned programs and projects.
  10. Reviews, analyses, reports on, and provides recommendations relating to service levels and delivery of operations and maintenance programs. Supervises and trains subordinate staff as required.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
     

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan
  • 1-3 years’ experience in municipal infrastructure Operations and Maintenance planning.
  • A recognized Planning/Maintenance/Operations designation would be an asset.
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of CMMS/EAM systems would be an asset.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s Licence.
  • Knowledge of Roadways, Water, and Waste Operations and Maintenance strategies and tactics is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with civic staff, civic officials, representatives of other agencies and the public.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.
