Main Purpose & Function 
The Trades II Carpenter is responsible for performing skilled carpentry work at the journeyman level. This position requires experience and knowledge in the use of tools and machinery related to the performance of advanced carpentry on structures in Parks.
 
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
The Trades II Carpenter must be able to effectively direct subordinates and work with minimal supervision on a variety of tasks including but not limited to:

• Carpentry tasks both in the Construction Shop and in the field.
• Carpentry work in construction, alteration, of park furniture and concrete forms,

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Main Purpose & Function 
This is skilled and semiskilled arboriculture work involving pruning, maintenance, planting and removal of boulevard and park trees. Tree pruning and removal is hazardous work performed with minimum supervision.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• The Arborist IA is the lead worker responsible for allocating, checking and reviewing the work of an arboriculture operations crew.
• The successful candidate will respond to enquiries from the general public in the course of carrying out assignments, participate in preparing presentations, public demonstrations and provides on the job training to subordinates in tree care operations.
• The Arborist IA will also be responsible for performing tree pruning operations around energized hydro lines and pruning boulevard and park trees using power saws, and other hand tools. This position would operate an aerial bucket truck and climb boulevard and park trees when required, using ropes and safety harness, operating a chipping machine as required and occasionally carrying out cabling and bracing.
• Additional responsibilities include planting and removing trees as required with using hand tools and mechanized equipment.
• The Arborist IA will have to lift and transplant established trees to accommodate site modifications, identifies diseased trees or trees that are potentially hazardous to public safety, and undertakes emergency control action as required and informs superiors of situations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Completion of the tenth school grade plus considerable experience in street tree operations and in the operation of a boom truck, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Experience in the use of climbing equipment and rigging techniques, and in planting and transplanting techniques.
• Utility Arborist – Certificate of qualification is required.

Main Purpose and Function

Reporting to the Managing Director of Social Policy & Projects, the Social Planner II is responsible for coordinating major social planning projects often involving complex and sensitive issues, and supervises a small team to help improve the social well-being of Vancouver residents, communities, and neighbourhoods to create a healthy city for all.The work requires considerable liaison with government representatives and officials and members of Boards, Commissions, private agencies and community organizations.

The initial of focus of this Social Planner II position is to provide collaborative leadership and strategic direction that contributes to the ongoing development and implementation of the Healthy City Strategy (HCS), the City’s long term sustainability strategy for health and wellbeing. The HCS encourages senior government partnerships and investments and align long term priorities for the City’s capital and operational investments, leverages additional resources and ensures that resources are targeted to Council approved priorities and community needs.

The Social Planner II applies socio–economic theories and practice, provides strategic leadership and project management skills and leads the development and implementation of multi-sectoral initiatives involving senior leaders, community partners, and civic agencies to achieve key goals and targets. Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

• University graduation in the Social Sciences, Public Policy, Urban Planning, Public Health, Indigenous Studies, or other related discipline, preferably at the Master’s level, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
• Experience working in a municipal planning setting, and an extensive understanding and experience with good results in multi-sectoral planning and implementation of strategic and complex social initiatives. Considerable experience working in this area preferably supplemented by supervisory experience.
• Experience with data management, governance, and tools; analytical approaches, methods, and tools; and production and delivery of presentations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
