The General Repair Technician II is a mid entry level position, responsible for assisting other technicians, performing maintenance and repair, routine services on non-technical facility components (i.e. walls, floors, etc.). The Technician II is also responsible for performing work in accordance with established processes and practices and for complying with internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, fire protection.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Troubleshooting

• Provides observations about facility, facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems conditions and deficiencies and provides suggestions for enhancement and repair.

EDUCATION, JOB-RELATED YEARS OF EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma plus trades training and/or certification or licensing.
• Minimum 3 years experience in residential construction and maintenance. 
• Sound knowledge of processes and practices relating to residential maintenance
• Ability to create a quality scope or work, engage with contractors and follow up on the progress of work to completion. 
• Demonstrated ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair (as per applicable qualifications) mechanical and other building systems and equipment.

Job Description:

Reporting to Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician’s responsibilities will include:

Orders and tracks parts and deliveries for all the Capexes and equipment we have

Runs PM system ready for customer or ISO audits

Respond to shop floor requests for problem solving assistance.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

You will assist with the planning, scheduling and assignment of manpower to specific jobs within the Freight Car Repair and Freight Car Inspection, ensuring that all repairs and/or servicing are performed in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with Company, AAR and TC regulations.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Conduct job briefings, end of shift briefings, safety meetings and activities, ensuring that safety rules, procedures and policies are adhered to thorough proficiency testing and safety tracking document

The Maintenance Engineer role is based in Picton, ON and reports directly to the Maintenance

Manager. The Maintenance Engineer will work closely with other Maintenance Supervisors,

Maintenance Planners and a Reliability Engineer among others.

What you’ll get to do

• Ensuring continuous improvement of equipment OEE (% reliability and % rate performance) by means of (a) root-cause failure analyses of significant or chronic equipment failures and (b) development and use of reliability action plans based upon RCFAs and downtime analysis techniques.
• Ensuring the inspection program (knowledge of equipment condition) is being executed using proper techniques. Inspections in person.
