Job Summary:
The Electrician/PLC Programmer is responsible for, Equipment and Plant electrical systems, programming, repairing, troubleshooting and maintaining programmable logic controller (PLC) systems used within the Pepsi bottling/processing facility. Inspects equipment for proper functioning and performs mechanical/electrical preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer's specifications. The successful candidate will also support day to day electrical and mechanical maintenance activities, including, preventative maintenance, repairs, changeovers and installations for other advanced production/manufacturing equipment. May mentor and provide support to less experienced technicians. Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform more complicated repairs or adjustments as needed.
Compensation:
- $44/hour + Health and Dental Benefits and Pension
Shift Details:
- Flexible with shift timings (Morning, Afternoon or Night)
- Monday - Friday, occassional weekends (44 hours/week)

Responsibilities
- Perform electrical and mechanical preventative maintenance on all Equipment and Plant electrical systems and PLC systems
- Perform preventative maintenance on all PLC systems
- Program, troubleshoot and perform repairs on Equipment and Plant PLC systems
- Perform software updates when required
- Perform program changes when required and backup copies of all programs
- Perform preventative maintenance or repairs on more advanced, high speed packaging equipment and production equipment as needed
- Perform breakdown analysis
- Oversee or perform general housekeeping
- Upgrade production lines with new/upgraded equipment/technology
- Assist with line/equipment package changeovers
- Enforce GMP, safety, and audit standards
- Work independently under limited supervision (self-management)
- Documentation of work schedule, pm’s and work tasks completed
- Complete weekly mechanical/electrical pm’s
- Assist with mechanical repairs
Qualifications
- Certified Electrical ticket with Red Seal
- Certified PLC programmer preferred
- Pass technical assessment addressing job-critical maintenance knowledge areas
- Experience with basic electrical systems (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays).
- Experience with electrical systems (installation, frequency drives, troubleshooting)
- Experience with electronics (e.g., level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs, etc.).
- Experience with PLC (e.g., industrial maintenance, computer control systems, etc.).
- Experience with product manuals (e.g., reading and applying knowledge to make repairs).
- Experience with schematics (e.g., electrical blueprints with switches, starters, maps, relays).
- Experience with troubleshooting (e.g., diagnostics, problem solving, etc.).
Helpful Experience:
- Experience with mechanical systems (e.g., gear boxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings).
- Experience with compressors/ammonia systems (e.g., refrigeration systems).
- Experience with conveyors and airveyors (air cylinders, diverters, sensors, motor/speed controls).
- Experience with kinematics (e.g., line speed/sprocket size ratios, etc.). Review rating instructions.
- Experience with packaging/high speed production (e.g., bottling, consumer products, etc.).

- Must have 6 years practical or general experience in mentioned apprenticeship applicable to the trade or possess a Unifor Local Journeyman/Journeywomen 101R card
- Must Possess one of the following; Journeyman Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanics Certification, Journeyman Automotive Technician Certification, and Journeyman Electrician Certification
- Strong problem solving and computer skills
- Must be able to work within strict established safety and work guidelines/rules to complete job
- Will be required to obtain all CPKC certification pertaining to specific tasks and assignments
- CPKC operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; must be able to work on various shifts and days off
