Physical Requirements:

The candidates should possess a high level of attention to detail and be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking

  • The candidates should be able to perform tasks that involve sitting and be comfortable standing and walking for extended periods

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent oral communication skills
  • The candidates should be reliable in completing assigned tasks and be team players, fostering collaboration within the organization

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assist clients/guests with special needs and produce reports
  • The candidates should be able to check age identification of patrons and investigate unlawful acts of employees or patrons, recommending security systems
  • The candidates should be able to operate security control room equipment, patrol assigned areas, and perform security checks of passengers and luggage
  • The candidates should be able to prevent and detect shoplifting and theft in retail establishments

Safety Specialist Full-time Job

Job Details

As our Safety Specialist you will Implements the corporate policies and objectives of the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) program, aimed at a zero-injury culture. The position requires a passion for excellence in workplace safety, health, and environmental sustainability.

Position Overview:

  • Collaborate with site staff and support leadership team in the planning, implementation, and coordination of effective health, safety and environmental programs related to the business unit.
  • Conduct safety orientations of employees, visitors, and subcontractors as required.
  • preparation and distribution of safety statistics
  • Collaborate with the business unit team to document site-specific JHA’s, critical lift plans, and safe job procedures.
  • Investigate incidents, obtain witness statements, verify information, and prepare investigation reports and injury reports, and follow-up as needed.

Qualifications Needed:

  • 3-5 year’s experience in safety, managing aspects of onsite construction, the ability to provide oversight to develop site-specific safety initiatives, training and reporting procedures are an asset.
  • Construction Safety Officer Certification or equivalent
  • Standard First Aid certificate (preferably at an advanced level), CPR and AED training
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and highly organized with strong time management, communication, and prioritization skills.
  • Proficient in construction safety practices, regulations, and techniques.
  • Program knowledge with SiteDocs, Avetta & ISN considered an asset.
  • Regular travel to worksite locations is required, ranging from 60-75% of the time, pending operational needs, and the other 25-40% of the time will be spent working from Winnipeg Office.

Job Profile

Under supervision and direction, the Instructor Guard provides aquatic instruction, performs lifeguarding duties, provides a safe and enjoyable environment and provides facility support for various aquatic programs.

As the Instructor Guard you will:

  • Instruct Lifesaving Society and Learn to Swim programs.
  • Lifeguard Public Swim and Aquatic programs.
  • Perform daily facility maintenance duties.

Your education and qualifications include:

  • Grade 11 or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, external contacts and the public, in accordance with the Respectful Workplace Policy.
  • Ability to instruct various aquatic programs as assigned.
  • Ability to organize and maintain records with ability to use computer related systems.
  • Ability to act quickly and calmly in urgent situations.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Ability and willingness to take additional related training as assigned or required.
  • Must be available to work varying shifts including evenings/weekends.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques employed in water safety and life-saving activities.
  • Manitoba Fitness Council certifications for Group; Resistance; Older Adults; Aqua Fitness would be an asset.
  • NCCP certification for Water Polo; Synchronized Swimming; Diving would be an asset.

Conditions of employment:

  • National Lifeguard - Pool 
  • Swim for Life Instructor
  • Lifesaving Instructor 
  • Standard First Aid Certificate (St John Ambulance, Red Cross, Criti-Care or Aquatic Emergency Care). 
  • CPR Level C / AED Certificate (St. John’s Ambulance, Red Cross, Criti-Care or Aquatic Emergency Care). Renewed annually. 
  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
  • A Police Information Check (Vulnerable Sector) satisfactory to the employer will be required from the successful candidate(s), at their expense. To obtain Police Information Check information please visit www.winnipeg.ca/police.
  • The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada.  If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
