As a heavy equipment operator, you will have the opportunity to become a dedicated contributor to our oil sands mining operations operating ultra class haul trucks.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 6 months' experience with operating equipment (haul trucks, wiggle wagon, dozers, graders, excavators) in industries such as mining, civil earthworks, pipelines, sawmills, pulp and paper mills or manufacturing, or highway construction.

  • A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma (GED), or Canadian Adult Educational Credential (CAEC) or 10+ years of work experience.

  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Be a positive contributor to building safety culture.

  • Complete walk-arounds, safety checks and field level risk assessments

  • Follow our operating standards and procedures.

  • Operate various makes and models of haul trucks.

  • Report all incidents, damage and near misses immediately.

  • Communicate updates to your supervisor to ensure that you meet all goals and objectives.

 

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray.

  • The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts).

  • This is not a camp-based role.

  • This is a temporary assignment with a remaining duration of up to 2025, depending on business need.

  • This position is safety sensitive.

The Headlines: 

In the role of Industrial Electrician working in Toronto, Ontario you will be part of the skilled trades team.You must have your provincial TQ and red seal IP certification in electrical work.  

In this position, you will work a rotating shift and schedule; you will spend 2 weeks on days (6 AM to 2 PM), 2 weeks on afternoons (2 PM to 10 PM), and 2 week on nights (10 PM to 6 AM). Hourly rate of $45.67/hr. (with a 90 working days probation period) in an unionized environment.

 

The Responsibilities: 

  • General Industrial electrical plant maintenance
  • Complete work orders as requested on all plant electrical equipment
  • Perform common electrical installations and modifications including conduit bending, cable install, electrical equipment mounting, industrial automation system installation, and lighting system repair/installation
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, maintenance manuals, ladder diagrams, troubleshooting guides, PLC ladder and sequential function charts, control loop diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams, and PM manuals
  • Test, troubleshoot, adjust, and repair analog components, digital and logic circuits, microprocessor-controlled devices, programmable logic and automation controllers, electronic process measurement systems, and electronic controllers
  • Effective and safe use of electrical test and recording equipment
  • Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, digital and analog control equipment/systems
  • Generate accurate and effective maintenance records, status reports, data, and maintenance logs
  • Assist in the design of basic electrical control systems including providing installation checks on design and report potential problems to the engineering department

Credentials

· Able to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications.

· Technical school training and has completed the apprenticeship program.

· Licensed electrician (309A).

· Minimum two years of previous related experience.

· Able to read schematic drawings in order to troubleshoot and repair equipment.

· Ability to troubleshoot and determine resolutions when encountering malfunctions in equipment.

· Knowledge of phone systems, network cabling, security systems, door access systems and video surveillance systems is an asset.

· Able to work rotating shifts and weekend work, as needed.

· Travel may be required between Guelph facilities.

  • • Support pre-production buy-offs for welds when required.
  • • Buy off of the First-Off / Mid-Off processes, and set up verifications to ensure it is being done correctly.
  • • Initiate and coordinate problem reports and containments.
  • • Establish, maintain and implement welding parameters to support production and Quality Assurance.
  • • Conducts weld inspection and analyze weld data, generate reports.
  • • Be an additional resource for Robotic weld touchups.
  • • Archiving and supporting Paxit system set up and training.
  • • Be dedicated to generating Weld PPAP packages when required.
  • • Participate as a Team Member with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • • Assist in problem investigation and root cause determination.
  • • Participate in Product, System and Process Audits, including CSRs, as required.
  • • Audit and approve Special Material Requests and reworked material when required.
  • • Assist in the training of production personnel in all weld quality requirements when required.
  • • Attend and / or Champion quality meetings when requested.
  • • Take initiative to follow through on completion of tasks / projects, PCR’s and weld-related GROW ideas.
  • • Cover for the other Weld Technicians if he/she is absent.
  • • Demonstrate a sense of urgency to achieve results.
  • • Perform other duties as designated.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • • Able to be flexible in hours of work in order to meet internal/external customer requirements (scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc.)

  • • Follow and ensure the company’s procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed throughout the plant.
  • • Ensure that you work and operate equipment according to Formet’s safety rules and regulations.
  • • Active role in maintaining excellent housekeeping through leading by example. • Ensure that your department is clean, tidy, organized and a safe workplace at all times.
  • • As with Safety, Security is everyone’s responsibility and Formet requires its employees to contribute to this activity by immediately notifying your supervisor when you identify security issues that affect the integrity of our supply chain, in accordance with PIP (Partners in Protection) and C-TPAT (Customs – Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) requirements.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL: Follow environmental protocol as prescribed by the Environmental Management System (EMS).

Overview of the Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the reactive, preventative and predictive maintenance and troubleshooting of manufacturing and packaging equipment.

 

Schedule: Nights

Hourly Rate: $42.98

Schedule: 5 on – 4 off;  5 on – 5 off; 4 on – 5 off: 12 hours per shift;
