  • Clean equipment and work areas 
  • Apply special protective coatings 
  • Guidance for apprentices when required

  • Abide by all Occupational Health and safety and Enviso regulations

Qualifications

  • Certified Alberta Journeyman in the trade of Painter and Decorator 
  • 5 years of experience in related field is an asset 
  • Considerable knowledge of the properties of paint, lacquer and related finishes, correct proportions and proper techniques for mixing, blending and applying paints or finishes to wood, metal or other materials 
  • Possess form perception to be able to observe application of coatings for proper thickness, smoothness, quality and detect imperfections
  • Possess spatial perception to be able to achieve proper spacing, balance and artistic effect when laying out and painting letters or designs
  • Color acuity of a high degree to mix paints to obtain desired color, or to match exact shade of original color 
  • Manual dexterity to use hand and power tools, to operate spraying machines and for precise and agile movements when painting letters on signs, applying trim, etc. 
  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties, specifically when dust, noise and various weather conditions exist 
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to understand formulas and specifications Ability to gain an understanding of our procurement process 
  • Commitment to continual learning, teamwork work and providing excellent customer service 
  • Strength and stamina to work in a variety of positions for extended periods of time along with the ability to work at various heights

As a Roadway Maintenance Inspector II, you will inspect, assess and provide direction for any and all infrastructure related inquiries pertaining to horizontal assets within Road Right of Way (ROW). You are typically the first point of contact for 311 concerns and will be a crucial relay for interdepartmental communication. You are also responsible for coordinating restoration for requested work through the On Street Construction and Maintenance (OSCAM) process, ensuring that work is completed according to the City’s Design and Construction Standards.

Some responsibilities will be:

  • Inspection of inquiries from citizens, counselors and other sources for deficiencies in ROW to identify safety concerns, investigate root cause of issues, determine appropriate repair methods and execute work according to the City’s priority matrix
  • Ensure proper documentation is followed through the 311 notification process from receipt of complaint to repair completion, as well as any email correspondence related to inquiries
  • Assessment of possible infrastructure deficiencies that could result in slip hazards (ie. ice build up on sunken sidewalk) during winter
  • Inspection of utility cuts requiring restoration by Infrastructure Maintenance as identified through the OSCAM application process. This involves inspection, coordination and completion of restoration as required by the City’s Design and Construction Standards. Proper documentation is followed through the use of the
  • Inspector Repair Detail Form (IRDF) linked to the OSCAM process
  • Resource coordination with District Roadway Maintenance Supervisor (RMS) to ensure inquiries and locations are completed according to our priority matrix 
  • Schedule the work according to the resources provided by the RMS
  • Complete and store proper documentation of required and finished work
  • Coordination with District Technician to control and maintain inventory of materials delivered, transferred and used by various programs
  • Coordination with other areas to effectively track and monitor crew production, material placement and overall program deliverables
  • Other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years of progressively responsible experience in the area of roadway inspection
  • Possession of a Class 5 Alberta Vehicle Operator’s License and the ability to qualify for a City driving permit
  • Completion of the following courses from NAIT or equivalent training from an accredited institution would be an asset: Soil Mechanics, Effective Communications I, and Pavement Materials Testing
  • Knowledge of all types of asphalt and concrete repair and restoration methods utilized by the city and how they relate to the City’s Design and Construction Standards
  • Analytical and conceptual skills including routing and scheduling of work orders to maximize repair efficiency and minimize impact to the public

The Drafting Technician I provides drafting services for the Assessment and Taxation Branch, which is critical to supporting the development of fair and accurate property assessments. The majority of duties involves creating or converting residential and non-residential building drawings using various reference sources.   • Data entry for tracking imaged documents.
  • Conversion of paper documents to electronic images using Kodak imaging software, including batch capture, quality control and verification of documents to protect the integrity and authenticity of records.
  • Uploading and using custom software to link images to proper occurrences on a Records Management System (RMS).
  • Maintain appropriate workflow to meet the Edmonton Police Service’s requirements.
  • Performing other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects related to word and information processing or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college, supplemented by training in microcomputer applications.
  • A minimum of two (2) years diversified word and information processing experience.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting and moving boxes weighing up to twenty (20) kilograms.
  • Able to process a high volume of work efficiently and accurately under the pressure of a fast-paced work environment.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently, to exercise sound judgment, and to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong computer and MS Office skills.
  • Scanning/imaging and micrographics experience an asset.
  • Experience in a police or records environment would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of police applications including CAD, CPIC, JOIN, and Niche would be considered an asset.
  • Applicants may be required to undergo a knowledge or skills assessment test.
  • As part of your pre-hire screening, you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.

Hours of Work:

40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Salary Range:

21B, Salary Grade: 007, $22.36 - $27.76 (Hourly), $1,788.90 - $2,221.1250 (Bi-Weekly), $46,689.77 - $57,973.32 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
