The Logistics team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by utilizingbest practices to ensure the safe transportation of personnel, donors, equipment, blood products and supplies. Formula for success
- Utilizing your experience with driving and transportation you will ensure that blood and blood products are transported in accordance with safety measures and procedures and are kept at an appropriate temperature. You will also ensure the safety of employees, donors and/or volunteers travelling with you.
- Drawing on your knowledge of safe transportation procedures and your attention to detail, you will conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working order, and accurately complete all required documentation.
- Leveraging your customer service skills, you will assist the collections team by greeting and helping donors book or rebook appointments as required.
- You will assist with setting up systems and Wi-Fi connections for mobile events by utilizing your familiarity with technology and aptitude for learning new programs.
- Utilizing your superior interpersonal and communication skills you will work with staff to carry and set up/dismantle equipment and supplies. You will also load and unload equipment and supplies at donor centre sites and upon return to centre.
Desired education and skills
- Completion of high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid Saskatchewan Class 4 drivers license or 1-3 with knowledge test and a clean commercial drivers abstract from within the last 30 days.
- Minimum 24 months verifiable professional driving experience as a commercial vehicle driver, within the last 3 years.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs.
- A willingness to learn procedures in a regulatory environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English. A second language is considered an asset.

This position oversees the day to day operations of conventional Transit through the supervision of bus operators and various support staff to ensure that safe, efficient and dependable bus and charter service is provided to all Saskatoon Transit Services customers.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Supervises, schedules and trains staff. Assists with recruitment and performs performance management processes.
2. Participates in the investigation and analysis of workplace accidents/incidents, report findings and recommends corrective action that includes: identifying root-causes and assisting with the implementation of counter-measures.
3. Represents Transit at public meetings, provides information sessions to schools and international students.
4. Coordinates and participates in transit security programs.
5. Monitors and reports on customer service programs and initiatives; investigates and resolves customer complaints.
6. Provides accurate route and schedule information to staff and members of the public.
7. Reports unsafe road conditions; establishes detours to maintain service following accidents, breakdowns, or when routes are impassable.
8. Maintains records associated with all Transit staff training programs, vehicle accidents, adjudications and operator certifications and assessments.
9. Monitors radio transmissions with bus operators to ensure system is operating efficiently.
10. Relieves Operators in emergent situations.
11. Manages and overseas Time Clerk schedule, vacation schedules and overall hours.
12. Overseas the dispatching of work and understand Spareboard rules to address grievances.
13. Entering data pertaining to Operator overtime and dispatch of work
14. Reviewing of leave reports for time off requests.
15. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Successful completion of one year of a recognized post-secondary program in a related discipline.
• Four to six years’ progressively responsible experience. Supervisory experience and experience in the transit or transportation industry is an asset.
• Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 2A Driver’s Licence.
• Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
• Demonstrated ability to provide supervision, leadership and training in order to achieve desired results.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and administer relevant aspects of the collective agreement.
• Demonstrated ability to assess and resolve complaints in a satisfactory manner, including investigating and recommending appropriate solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to provide effective customer service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
• Demonstrated skill in the operation of a computer with word-processing, databases and spreadsheets.
