Main Purpose and Function

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Receiving Inbound Material

  • Unloads and inspects material for quality and quantity
  • Compares purchase order to packing slip, report and document any discrepancies
  • Records the receipt of all inbound materials in SAP

 

Storing Material

  • Labels  material by SKU number, barcode, material description, and / or bin number
  • Arranges and stock material on racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined sequence, and restock shelves as required
  • Stores, distributes and / or disposes of returned material
  • Maintains accurate records of all in-stock material in SAP

 

Picking and Processing Orders

  • Accepts and reviews accuracy of outbound customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, and requisition forms

Inventory Management

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

We are hiring auxiliary staff for two teams within the Park Board, our Community Centres and our Mobile Parks Teams.

 

Building Worker - Community Centres
The Building Worker is responsible for the enhancement of civic buildings by completing janitorial duties and minor maintenance. A key part of the role requires knowledge of standard cleaning methods and the ability to learn new and effective methods to ensure the cleanliness of the facilities. The Building Worker is responsible for performing a variety of heavy cleaning tasks including stripping and waxing floors, cleaning windows, cleaning washrooms, showers and change rooms, carpet cleaning, emptying garbage, minor maintenance repairs and other related duties as required.

 

Building Worker - Mobile Parks

The Mobile Parks Building Worker will provide janitorial services for the citywide inventory of public bathrooms and change rooms in parks. The Building Worker must also be able to operate a vehicle on a daily basis in a safe and efficient manner. Duties include, but are not limited to: opening, stocking, spot and deep cleaning, and locking facilities.

 

The successful candidate must be able to work a variety of shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights and on weekends. 

 

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a recognized certification program in building services work and some related experience.
  • Experience performing a variety of routine manual tasks in care, cleaning and general maintenance of buildings.
  • Experience operating and using janitorial tools, equipment and supplies.
  • WHMIS is preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Qualifications

The Trades II Carpenter is responsible for performing skilled carpentry work at the journeyman level. This position requires experience and knowledge in the use of tools and machinery related to the performance of advanced carpentry on structures in Parks.
 
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
The Trades II Carpenter must be able to effectively direct subordinates and work with minimal supervision on a variety of tasks including but not limited to:

  • Carpentry tasks both in the Construction Shop and in the field.
  • Carpentry work in construction, alteration, of park furniture and concrete forms, 
  • Performs duties using innovative techniques, best practices and materials to improve quality, reduce costs and improve productivity
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints and sketches
  • Provides estimates of work and performs related work as required.
  • Performs related duties as required.

 
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in the Carpentry Trade, and must have Trades Qualifications recognized in British Columbia, with preference for an Interprovincial Seal.
  • Completion of Grade 12 high school or equivalent GED program.
  • Considerable journeyman experience is an asset

 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of various methodologies, innovativeness, best practices, regulatory requirements –WCB, WHMIS, Building By-laws of the City of Vancouver, drawings and specifications, tools, materials, equipment, etc., used in maintenance, installation and construction.
  • Considerable knowledge of hazards and safety precautions of the trade and familiarity with regulatory requirements (WCB, WHMIS, etc.) and current Building By-Laws and Fire By-Laws for the City of Vancouver relating to the Carpentry trade.
  • Demonstrated experience with fabrication of wooden forms for concrete.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and work from blue prints and shop drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and work from specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to assign and supervise subordinates.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow written as well as verbal instructions.
  • Good oral and writing skills and ability to follow written as well as verbal instructions.
  • Proficiency and ability to use computer systems, mobile phones and applicable apps to perform job tasks and monitor job work orders.

 
Driver’s License and Record Checks:

  • A current and valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License or higher and a Satisfactory driving record
