- reconditions floors, repairs and cleans grout, using appropriate equipment;
- performs routine and special room set ups which entails: following work orders, room diagrams and verbal instructions; moving and setting up of furniture and equipment according to plan and schedule; opens and locks doors to assigned rooms; may assisting setting out academic examination booklets;
- clears furniture and equipment as requested and stores in appropriate areas.

- performs maintenance functions such as changing lights and adjustments to furniture and equipment;
- other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements for Selection
Education:
Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent; technical training is desirable.
Experience:
One year of related work experience, education may be substituted for experience.
Other:
Physical ability to perform required duties, including heavy lifting and pushing of furniture and equipment, considerable walking and stair climbing; ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written), ability to follow written instructions; awareness of building security and fire procedures; tact and diplomacy in dealing with others; ability to work at varying heights and to operate and use safety ladders and lifts. The Supervisor supervises the execution of the maintenance work plan for the assigned shifts and assists in the set up for the oncoming shifts as required. The Supervisor liaises with the Maintenance Planners to ensure all planned work has the resources and material available to complete the plan and works closely with the incoming Maintenance team at shift hand-off to ensure plan compliance and transfer of information regarding breakdowns and other issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead employees in the daily execution of planned (PM) & unplanned (service) work, and project or overhaul work as required

Work with Operations Managers/Team Leads to respond quickly and effectively to equipment downtime, productivity or safety issues

Accountable for adherence to City policies, legislative requirements and collective agreements. Provide consistent leadership with respect to practices, expectations and a positive working environment fostering development of all staff. Establishes appropriate policies and procedures for the section and ensures these are updated and changed as required to meet service plans and strategic goals. Fosters positive labour relations. - Administer Fleet Services programs related to scheduling of seasonal maintenance, repairs and modifications, replacements and parts purchases. - Financial accountabilities. Prepare and monitor the operating budget for own area, and contribute to the overall departmental budgeting process. Review parts purchased and sources of supply for the Stores section. Authorize all purchases and approve invoices for payment. Prepare requisitions for various products and services and review tenders or quotes to recommend purchase. Oversee semi-annual physical inventories in the Fleet Stores area.
- Continuous improvement. Respond to user requests for changes and modifications and recommend solutions for optimum asset management. Prepare reports and make recommendations regarding equipment efficiencies and conditions. Investigate best practices and take a proactive approach to ensure that City maintenance programs meet the demands of a changing work environment and provide the most cost-effective solutions. Develop and implement initiatives to improve processes, work environment and culture
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration, Maintenance Management, Human Resources, Labour Relations or the equivalent experience and education.
- 3 to 5 years fleet experience, with 2 or more years supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment
- Strong leadership skills for managing staff
- Knowledgeable in applicable legislation, i.e. Occupational Health & Safety Act, Highway Traffic Act, Employment Standards Act etc.
- Ability to meet deadlines and to prioritize and coordinate work of staff
