The P&D Dispatch Team Leader is responsible for supervising and supporting a team of dispatchers, working closely with the Dispatch Supervisor to ensure the smooth running of daily operations. This role involves dispatching local units for freight pickups and deliveries, while closely monitoring driver and dispatcher performance to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. The Team Leader plays a key role in leading and motivating the team, ensuring high standards of service and operational performance.
How You'll Help:
• Execute the P&D plan, making adjustments as needed
• Answer driver and customer phones, including managing leased trucks
• Review yard audit to ensure freight is not missed and trucks are on schedule
• Coordinate drivers to return for second round of deliveries
• Coordinate daily P&D requirements
• Monitor driver performance and report findings to manager
• Identify areas for improvement and efficiencies
• Actively engage in process improvements to further develop our systems
• Provide mentoring and guidance to subordinates and other employees
• Provide training to support individual roles and to expand skills that drive employee engagement in growing the business
• Lead/influence/persuade cross-functional teams to ensure excellence in the execution of the dispatch operation.
Your Skills and Experience:
• Minimum of high school education, with preference to post-secondary education (Supply Chain or Logistics Management or a combination of education and experience.
• Previous experience in transportation or operations is preferred, various roles in transportation would be beneficial. Recent graduates or current students are welcome.
• Communication skills - advanced
• Computer skills - accuracy, MS products, Bringg, web programs such as TruckMate
• Demonstrated customer relations skills
• Able to work deadlines in a high transactional environment
