As an Engineering Director on the Commerce team, you will oversee a multi-year roadmap of initiatives to transform the Yelp Commerce and Checkout platform. - Work with vendors and the Procurement team to test and qualify packaging designs to expand the Packaging supply chain to enable top-line box growth.
- Coordinate testing with an external lab and our HF US lab while building our own local testing lab capacity here in Canada.
- Manage the planning and execution of packaging testing out of the Packaging Laboratory once it’s up and running ( requiring 2 days a week working from the lab in Mississauga, ON)
- Responsible for packaging lab upkeep and equipment calibration and maintenance
- Oversee thermodynamic testing to validate and qualify cold chain packaging systems
- Test packaging components and modify as necessary to meet functional parameters, cost targets, fulfillment, and shipping requirements
- Complete and communicate test reports to Packaging Procurement team, as well as cross functionally.
- Help provide packaging solutions to HelloFresh’s innovative launch of new products, services offerings, and expansion into new categories and markets.
- Conduct technical and scientific tests to gain further insights into packaging strategies, packaging material(s) comparison, and various other ad-hoc packaging research & development projects.
- Redevelop and maintain our ice matrix and upsizing logic
- Work with vendors to obtain packaging material specifications and manage internal specification process of documentation

- 2-4 years of relevant work experience in packaging engineering/science.

Working closely with the architecture team, we are engaged in developing the platform roadmaps, participate in the Proof of Concept (POC) and responsible for the production pilot of new technologies. We provide the solution designs and work closely with all global regions to maintain common strategies and service methodologies. The team is engaged in all major projects and complex initiatives providing technical oversight and guidance to ensures all standards and patterns are followed.
The role:
Reporting to a Senior Manager, Global Network Engineering - Design & Automation, you will play a critical part in helping the team to design, deploy & support the various technologies within our Global Network.
When required, you will be a part of after-hours deployments or addressing major incidents in the evenings or weekends.
