  • Providing engineering and/or project management support to the Transportation Project Engineers/Transportation Project Leaders in the delivery of large and/or complex planning and preliminary design projects/studies, including Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) studies, Integrated Road Projects, major transportation/corridor studies, travel demand forecasting, higher order transit studies, microsimulation, safety and traffic data analysis, feasibility studies, conceptual design, preliminary designs of municipal roadways and roundabouts, and other transportation related issues.
  • Working with a variety of government related agencies, City departments, and consultants regarding transportation infrastructure planning related issues.
  • Ensuring coordination and consistent reporting of issues and communications at all levels with stakeholders and constituencies, including government related agencies, City departments and external consultants.
  • Assisting the Transportation Project Engineers/Transportation Project Leaders with the negotiation of agreements between the City and third parties dealing with cost sharing, division of responsibilities, land interests and other issues to advance infrastructure projects of mutual interest.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Post-secondary graduate from a recognized university with a degree in Civil, Transportation or a related engineering program and a registered P.Eng. designation in good standing with the PEO, or a post-secondary graduate from a recognized college in Civil or Transportation Engineering Technology or a related applied science technology program with a registered C.E.T. designation in good standing with OACETT.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience in transportation engineering and infrastructure planning including design of municipal roadways (including roundabouts, grade separations, active transportation and municipal services), transportation feasibility and corridor studies, traffic studies and multi-modal transportation projects.
  • Municipal experience is considered an asset.

Job Details

The Transportation (Execution Analyst position within the Inbound Rails Team in Canadian Tire’s Domestic Transportation department is responsible for proactively monitoring Inbound Containers and Vendor Pick up across Canada, and ensuring exceptional customer service to our Vendors and internal stakeholders. This position responds to any impacts affecting timely arrival and works closely with internal Dispatch team members, CTR Vendors and our carrier partners to develop delivery plans whenever necessary. The Execution Analyst also supports the data integrity and accuracy of information within the tracking systems used by internal and external parties (JDA/Yard Smart). This team works Monday to Friday however it supports 24/7 operations and requires shift flexibility based on changing or temporary business needs.

  • Proactively perform Container monitoring tasks to prevent, identify, resolve and communicate any Container or Vendor pick up delays, issues, or conflicts.

  • Ensure the integrity of the information within the CTC tracking systems (JDA/Yard Smart / PowerBI).

  • Provide operational status updates for management and other internal stakeholders as required.

  • Work with rail partners and other third party carriers to maintain timely movement and fluidity of the CTC containers. 

  • Contribute to knowledge skill set of CTC Supply Chain in matters concerning rail movements and Inbound container utilization.

  • Create and Update system moves for Inbound containers in Yard Smart.

  • Manage Team mailbox and respond to inquires from internal and external stake holders.


What you bring

  • Previous dispatch or transportation experience is an asset.

  • Knowledge of CTC transportation systems (i.e. Insight, JDA, Yard Smart)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Hours of Work Legislation, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and the Highway Traffic Act

  • Excellent geographical knowledge of Canada.

  • Knowledge of CN & CP Intermodal Operations.

  • Experience using MS Access, CP & CN online tool, and Yard Smart.

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), including a calm, professional, and friendly demeanor under pressure.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines.

  • Strong service quality awareness and commitment.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills; ability to multi task and juggle changing priorities on a daily and hourly basis.

  • Strong objective decision making / problem solving skills.

  • Proven PC knowledge of MS- Office and CTC Transportation systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze and monitor transit data such has ridership and key performance indicators to understand customer travel patterns and route performance
  • Optimize resource utilization by analyzing customer requests and comments, considering the evolution of ridership trends and needs, understanding ridership market and evolving local and inter-system services
  • Develop and revise short term and long term service plans in the context of MiWay's goals and the City's overall public transportation strategies
  • Identify areas of improvement to increase system wide customer satisfaction through understanding customers' feedback, staff comments and requests through Councillor's and the Mayor's offices
  • Use recognized industry standards and in-depth understanding of public transit's role in the context of the City's Strategic Plan
  • Represent MiWay on various ad-hoc work groups and/or committees providing technical advice and divisional input based on research and analysis

Skills and Qualifications

  • University degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Transportation Engineering, Business or related discipline
  • Minimum of 3-5 years progressive experience in a public transit or transportation planning and business planning environment
  • Professional Planning, Engineering or Business/Commerce related designation in Ontario is an asset
  • Strong mathematical background, preferably with statistical analysis experience including both quantitative and qualitative research
  • Ability to draw conclusions and provide recommendations to deal with service performance issues, relying on sound analysis and supporting data
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills to deliver professional reports, presentations, and customer correspondence
  • Excellent analytical and decision making skills matched by strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment with changing priorities within established deadlines is required.
