REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Repairs, modifies and performs preventative maintenance inspections; troubleshoots for field vehicle fleet and ground support equipment service of G.S.E. and heavy equipment in shop and outdoor environments
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Automotive Service Technician or Truck and Coach Technician certification/license
- Must possess a valid G license and have a good driving record
- Three (3) years of fleet experience
- Fleet maintenance experience an asset

- Must have working knowledge of use and operation of all automotive diagnostic testing equipment, gauges and tools associated with trouble shooting and repairs of gasoline, diesel and hydraulic powered equipment

- Manages work order life cycle progressing the work form dispatched through to complete and records resolution data within service maintenance management database. Ensures work completed meets quality, contract response and all other requirements
- Receives, tracks, monitors and reports status of maintenance and repair work within service maintenance management database. Initiates documents to obtain formal approval of work required.
- Assists in the implementation of preventative maintenance (PM) program. Ensures that deficiencies are identified, recorded and escalated, and that related documents are maintained.
- Participates in facility-related projects.
- Ensures the manner in which work is performed is in compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices and guidelines related to environmental, health and safety, fire protection and any other applicable requirements.
- Maintains all assigned tools and arranges for repair and replacement where required
- Submits all expenditures on a timely basis
- Assists in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through manner in which work is performed and services delivered.

Work Requirements
- Must be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-outs as they arise.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- 3-5 years of facility operations and maintenance work experience
- High school diploma plus trades training and certification or licensing
- Advanced ability to adhere and to properly execute processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance
- Advanced ability to maintain and repair mechanical and electrical building systems and equipment within the limits of certifications and policies
- Advanced troubleshooting and resolution skills in order to determine and resolve building mechanical and electrical equipment and system issues
- Current knowledge of fire, life, safety and building codes and standards and ability to research and apply related codes and standards
- Possesses a strong environmental, health and safety mindset. Ability to perform work in a safe manner
- Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency
- Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification

Position Overview
The Service Technician is responsible for performing repairs; overhaul services, and maintenance functions on various drive shafts. This includes diagnosing faulty operations, readjusting or repairing components and testing to ensure the quality of the repair or alteration.
The incumbent works closely with the Parts Department to receive required parts. We are willing to train the right candidate.
Shift Information: Full-time, permanent position Monday to Friday, daytime 40 hours

Primary Responsibilities
- Inspecting and testing different types of driveshafts for different vehicles to locate faults and malfunctions
- Repair or replace mechanical units or components after reviewing/discussing the problems with supervisors
- Balance drive shafts and record final readings and work performed
- Dismantling and reassembling components of driveshafts
- Perform repair work as per manufacturers specifications
- Utilize diagnostic tools and procedures to identify driveline issues accurately
- Plan and exercise conscious control over the amount of time spent on work orders, to increase effectiveness, efficiency or productivity

About the Opportunity
- Performs general maintenance duties and scheduled preventive maintenance work on physical facilities, equipment and grounds;
- Assembles, moves, delivers, sets up and picks up furniture and equipment;
- Performs general repair work on structures, patches & paints any damaged walls;
- Assists the Plant, Building & Safety Manager in the inspection of buildings, grounds and equipment; carries out preventive maintenance program actions;
- Accesses PM Worx program for Preventive Maintenance schedules and to process work orders;
- Requests necessary materials, supplies, parts and tools required and maintains control of storage and use;
- Takes every precaution that is reasonable in the circumstances to ensure the health and safety of employees, residents and all others in the workplace.

About You
In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:
- High School Diploma or completion of equivalent education;
- 3 + years’ experience in construction or building maintenance;
- Knowledge of WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety legislation;
- Experience with light plumbing, door handles, door closures, general repairs, ceiling tiles, locks etc. Experience with Nurse call systems and electronics is a bonus.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to provide leadership to the maintenance team, provide instruction to junior members of the team.
- You can provide a clear criminal record with vulnerable sector screening
- A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care.
