Job Details

Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property and personnel. Makes periodic patrols to check for irregularities and to inspect protection devices and fire control equipment. Preserves order and may act to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises. Controls access to client site or facility through the admittance process Patrols assigned site on foot or in vehicle; checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked entrances and exits, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons. Protects evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations. Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents. Prepares logs and reports as required. Specific duties or tasks may vary and be documented separately. The employee might not be required to perform all functions listed. Additional duties may be assigned, and functions may be modified, according to business necessity. 

Schedule: 10-hour shifts each day for 3 days, Nov 29th, Nov 30th and Dec 1st. Hours will be between 0800-2130. 
Must be available for all three days.
 
Pay rate: $19

Functioning as a core member of the team, the Cleaner must be able to:

  • Cleans and stores equipment and machinery used, reporting any deficiencies to Management team

  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures 
  • Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications 
  • Make adjustments and minor repairs.  Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems 
  • Remove snow and debris from sidewalks, driveways, or parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, or snow shovels, or spread snow melting chemicals. 
  • Ensures compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices and guidelines related to environmental, health and safety, and fire protection
  • Represents BGIS SCS in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintain positive relations
  • Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities
  • May be required to work shifts, work on-call/standby and emergency call-out as required
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Clinical Practicum hours within the Personal Support Worker program consist of a minimum of one hundred and forty (140) hours, as practical experience, preferably with clinic experience in a geriatric or long term care setting.

Combined class and practical experience must be 600 hours in duration.

JOB SUMMARY

Traffic Signal Installation & Field Programs is responsible for Traffic Signal assembly, installation, modification and maintenance, Traffic Control Room management of data and video equipment and data communications, Signal Timing engineering, Camera assembly, installation, modification and maintenance, and Re-lamping management.

You are responsible for maintaining, trouble-shooting, repairing and modifying electrical systems and associated ancillary equipment for all Traffic Signals of the City of Ottawa.  You are also responsible for the construction, assembly and installation of new electrical equipment as required for ongoing operations. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of Electrician-Construction and Maintenance apprenticeship program of 9000 hours

Additional post-secondary education in electrical and other trades related areas is an asset

Minimum of 5 years of related experience in the installation and maintenance of a variety of electrical equipment such as switchgear, motors, transformers and controllers following acquisition of the Journeyperson’s Certificate.

More extensive exposure to a variety of electrical installations is an asset

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Electrician-Construction and Maintenance 309A
Must obtain Master Electrician licence with Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) within the timeframe determined by the employer
Valid Ontario unrestricted DZ class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
