We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and ambitious individual to learn and progress in their career with Air Canada.  The Financial Services Analyst would work collaboratively with the Commercial branches, in support of the airline's business objectives and continued drive towards sustained profitability. This position reports to the Senior Financial Services Analyst - Commercial.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective financial managing processes/systems and controls are developed, implemented and maintained in accordance with policies and requirements.    
  • Assist the Senior Financial Services Analyst in support of Lounges, Inflight Product, Revenue Management, & Sports/Corp Charters.
  • Issue billings on behalf of internal clients.
  • Act as the key contact person for issues relating to supplier invoices and payments.
  • Establish a positive relationship with supported branches to become "part of the team", effectively balancing financial control, advisory and support roles  
  • Assist internal clients in all financial aspects including Forecasting, KPIs and Business analytics)
  • Provide financial support and guidance to business unit managers in the development of strategies and initiatives to meet or exceed the Unit's financial goals, including revenue enhancement and/or cost reduction initiatives
  • Keep track of monthly operating expenses, producing monthly and ad hoc expense reports to improve expense and budget management
  • Participate and provide support to the analysis of the financial performance of the business unit
  • Ensure a consistently high level of quality in service provided relative to timeliness, accuracy, and user-friendly output

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance and/or Accounting
  • CPA designation completed/underway is a preferred asset
  • Self-starter, energetic with strong sense of initiative and creativity
  • Solid analytical skills
  • Knowledge of financial analysis techniques and accounting cycle
  • Experience/knowledge of company/airline operations is an asset
  • Well-developed Microsoft Excel skills and ability to learn financial software/applications
  • Results driven with good organization skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Great time management skills

  • Summarize new quote contents and customer requirements requests
  • Co-ordination and verification of all quotation activities
  • Development of customer pricing from supplied cost information
  • Preparation of Customer quote response format
  • Manage and track to closure of open financial issues
  • Maintenance of several areas of responsibility in ERP (Trans4M) system (Mainly Pricing)
  • Maintenance of customer web portals and e-Commerce systems
  • Maintenance of sales forecast in GSC
  • Manage quote capital submission including preparation, development, analysis and business case summary
  • Tooling cost reconciliation and documentation
  • Creation of sales and marketing presentations
  • Coordination of customer visits
  • Ability to travel within Canada and to USA
  • Read and interpret MRP and engineering bills of materials
  • Communicate, both written and verbal, with both internal and external customers in a polite and effective manner

JOB SUMMARY

The mandate of Infrastructure Services is to implement city-building priorities – from planning and delivering infrastructure projects, to managing infrastructure assets and investments.

You manage total project delivery using in-house and/or external resources for major infrastructure construction and rehabilitation projects, including roadways, transitways, structures, sewers, water mains, pumping stations, treatment works, drainage works, lighting, solid waste/landfill sites, cycling facilities, traffic calming, transit improvements, streetscaping and related underground utilities.  

You are responsible for all phases of the project delivery, from project inception through consultant selection (where applicable), public consultation, pre-design, detailed design, approvals, tendering, and award, to construction. 

You monitor, track and report on project status, approve all project expenditures, arrange all project related testing, and handle commissioning/turnover to operating branches. Assignments involve major or multiple projects that are highly complex, of multi-million dollar value, frequently having numerous stakeholders and may require extensive public consultation and environmental assessment and may extend over multiple years. 

You also: participate in project identification, prioritization and planning; organize the conduct of environmental impact assessment and other studies and all stages of the project lifecycle; contribute to the review/development of department engineering standards; and carry out other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 4 year degree in Engineering or Applied Science

Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the planning, design and construction of municipal infrastructure, including a minimum of 5 years of project management experience

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)

KNOWLEDGE

  • Engineering planning, design, operations and construction/rehabilitation of municipal structures, infrastructure and utilities 
  • Related federal, provincial and engineering legislation, regulations, standards, codes and by-laws pertaining to environmental impact assessment, building, fire, health and safety, construction process 
  • Processes for conducting and analysing environmental impact assessments
  • Principles of project management, including cost containment/control and reporting
  • Process for developing Request for Qualifications & Requests for Proposals, including acceptance, review and selection of consulting engineers
  • Processes for tendering and contracting work

  • Must be familiar with all applicable health and safety legislation, have knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the work place, and have knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in order to ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and city policies and procedures

Immediately, responds and performs all emergency scene duties, such as, but not limited to: firefighting, forcible entry, search and rescue, emergency medical aid and CPR, vehicle extrication, technical rescue operations, hazardous materials operations, and securing the emergency scene for the safety of the public and members of OFS.
Functions/operates under a command structure as an effective and supportive team member at all emergencies from small scale incidents to large scale disasters. Operates at height, in confined spaces, and in uncontrolled environments, including those that are immediately dangerous to life and health (IDLH).
Drives/operates any apparatus/vehicles in accordance with policy and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and operates and uses all Ottawa Fire Services equipment, such as pumps, hoses, ground ladders, aerial apparatus platforms & ladders, generators, vehicle and equipment extrication tools, etc. Completes in-station duties and tasks, including: cleaning, inspections, testing & documentation of all inventory and equipment used, returns all equipment used to a state of readiness, as well as, regular maintenance of City of Ottawa property and grounds.
On a daily basis, cleans, inspects, maintains and performs safety checks on equipment and apparatus while maintaining a clean and orderly fire station. Completes all required training and retraining as assigned within the allotted timeframe. Participates in Pre-Incident Planning in order to be familiar with the immediate response area risks as well as new or unique building challenges, transportation route familiarity and obstacles such as those routes that are under construction. Educates the public about fire prevention and fire safety practices by participating in Public Education, and Fire Prevention activities as well as conducting Community Fire Safety programs, as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Successful completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma OSSD (Grade 12) or academic equivalent diploma.
Previous fire service or related sectors work experience would be an asset.
Skills and abilities acquired though related work such as trades, other emergency services, relevant training and educational programs would also be considered an asset.
 

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES
Successful completion of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001 Level 1 & 2 and NFPA 1072 or 472 Operations level (proof of IFSAC or Pro Board seal). A Letter of Compliance with NFPA Standards from the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office (Grandfathering) will be accepted in lieu of Seals (documents required).
Successful completion of the Ontario Fire Administration Inc. (OFAI) Stage One Firefighter Aptitude and Character Test (as verified by possession of a current and valid Candidate Testing Services CTS Certificate (document required).
Possession of a current and valid (document/s required)

  • Red Cross First Responder BLS certificate; or,
  • Red Cross Emergency Medical Responder BLS certificate; or,
  • St. John Ambulance Medical First Responder BLS certificate; or,
  • St. John Ambulance Advanced Medical First Responder BLS certificate
  • A current OFS Volunteer Firefighter.

Possess a valid Ontario Class “D” license with a “Z” air brake endorsement with no more than three (3) demerit points accumulated, or provincial and/or territorial equivalent (document required).

Main Purpose & Function

The Senior Waterworks Design Engineer is responsible for managing programs that support the renewal and replacement of aging water infrastructure. The position provides design, project management and contract management during the design and construction of infrastructure projects; establishes water system requirements for development proposals; supports water system maintenance and operations; and provides long range asset planning in branch, departmental and city-wide planning initiatives. 

 

The position reports to the Assistant Branch Manager and manages a team comprised of Civil Engineers, Engineering Assistants and Survey Assistants, responsible for project scoping, design drawings, budget estimating and inspection during construction The position works closely with Water Operations, Engineering Strategy and Standards, Engineering Project Delivery, and various branches across Engineering and the other departments. Also liaises with external organizations such as Metro Vancouver and BC Hydro.

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership and Resource Planning

  • Manages of a team of Engineers, Engineering Assistants, and Surveyors responsible for capital project design submissions and project management documents
  • Recruits, selects, coaches and mentors team staff
  • Assigns responsibilities/tasks and completes performance plans/reviews and training plans
     

Planning, Design & Construction

  • Manages and oversees the quality control of water and multi-disciplinary (i.e., water, sewer, streets) capital projects, in accordance with the City’s Project Management Framework
  • Responsible, as the Engineer of Record, for all capital design submissions generated by the team, including Direct Supervision requirements of subordinates
  • Ensure all team members and design submissions adhere to the the Quality Management System (QMS), Professional Governance Act(PGA)and Project Management Framework (PMF) requirements
  • Oversees constructability planning during design submissions for cost effective construction implementation
  • Coordinates and liaises with Waterworks Asset Management, Planning, and Development groups during capital project planning and detailed design
  • Liaises with other City departments to coordinate the design, planning, and construction of Waterworks projects
  • Develops and maintains construction schedule and budget; oversees progression and budgetary expenditures of capital projects.
  • Completes post construction evaluation of project closing tasks
  • Oversees the scoping, procurement and management of professional design service contracts, as required, for the replacement or rehabilitation of linear Waterworks assets
  • Oversees progression and budgetary expenditures of capital projects
  • Prepares technical reports, presentations, letters and memos
  • Communicates with the public, consultants, and staff across the city departments
     

Standards and Reviews

  • Advances the design and construction standards for Waterworks, as part of overall City of Vancouver Engineering Design Standards

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Professional Engineer designation and minimum of eight years related experience in the design and construction of water infrastructure, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets for infrastructure capital works
  • Registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia

 

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of civil engineering practices and underground infrastructure design and construction practices particularly related to water main design
  • Working knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) and Professional Governance Act (PGA) processes and frameworks 
  • Knowledge of Project Management methodologies, processes, standards and policies
  • Excellent knowledge of management principles, policies and practices including recruitment and selection, leadership, performance and attendance management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a variety of stakeholders, with experience writing technical reports
