The Senior Credit Analyst utilizes advanced skills in credit writing, financial statement analysis, loan structuring, risk management and communications to provide exceptional service and responsiveness within EFG’s key business line functions of credit underwriting, loan applications and recurring credit review process and administration. This is an important role in delivering effective risk-based loan pricing and profitability management with underwriting focus primarily directed toward more complex and higher value credits requiring in-depth knowledge and experience, to appropriately assess, and mitigate all attributes of risk in alignment with CWB’s defined risk appetite. This position provides direct functional mentorship and guidance to Credit Analysts and Associates – enhancing the development of EFG’s credit capabilities.

 

Day to day activities                                  

  • Client engagement: Deliver outstanding client experiences at every interaction and execute on plans to continuously build the client experience, in line with CWB’s brand promise. Provide full-service solutions for clients with the view to be every client’s primary financial partner.

  • Credit underwriting: As an experienced credit underwriter, you will partner with Senior Commercial Relationship Managers to support the branch strategy and client experience through effective and timely credit underwriting for new and existing borrowing clients with average loan volumes greater than $2MM. You will manage risks and day-to-day client relationships for medium to large commercial clients.

  • Risk management: You will utilize your risk management skills to ensure appropriate measures are put into place and risk assessment protocols and structures are implemented, while balancing risk and reward in line with CWB’s risk appetite. You respect and comply with all policy/procedures, regulatory and reporting requirements.

  • Mentorship and coach: The two are synonymous. You have a proven ability to influence those in your sphere with knowledge and experience positively. You are engaged and present for every coaching opportunity to elevate those around you.

  • Learning: Although you’ve developed a strong credit foundation, you are always identifying trends and growing your knowledge to achieve ultimate success and strong results for you and your team.

 

Foundational knowledge and experience to grow from

Financial and marketing knowledge of local markets and national economies built on a foundation of formal education (business degree) and real-life experience (5+ years of financial services experience in risk management, banking with 3 years in business lending)– preferably in equipment financing and leasing). If you are either on the path to get CFA, CPA, CGA, CMA, or CA or have the willingness to obtain those letters - that will set you apart. Exceptional credit adjudication experience supported by honed skills in financial statement analysis and deep knowledge base of effective risk mitigation strategies for credit underwriting with a knowledge of collateral security and documentation requirements.

 

Capabilities that will take you further.

  • Financial expertise. You have garnered credit underwriting experience that has allowed you to plan, execute and mitigate risk on a portfolio of clients. You have solid comprehension of equipment financing and leasing and a general understanding of collateral security and documentation requirements.

  • Proactive nature. Although you pride yourself in being detail oriented and can see well into the weeds of problems, it is your knack for anticipating needs, opportunities, and solutions that sets you apart from your peers.

  • Effective communication.  You can communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.  You have refined your negotiation, facilitation, influencing and conflict mitigation skills. While it's not a must, being fluent in French could add a little "je ne sais quoi" to your success in this role!

  • Technologically proficient. You are adept at learning new software that you will use on a day-to-day basis. You have mastered MS Office, especially Excel and a good working knowledge of Temenos/T24 and WAVE is an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

· The Payroll Analyst will be responsible for the day-to-day completion of all payroll functions including but not limited to the timely and accurate processing of the payrolls, review and entry of garnishments, maintenance of employee payroll data, compliance of all employee and employer tax withholding and reporting, general ledger files preparation and balance, and ensure all deadlines are met and company policies and procedures are followed.

· This position will be responsible for responding to employee inquiries, assist in dealing with escalated payroll issues, special projects assigned to the team, provide training, tools and education to each site regarding time entry and other payroll related matters.

· The role will report to the Payroll Manager and work very closely with Finance, Human Resources, and Benefits teams.

· Process bi-weekly hourly and salary payrolls in the payroll system and ensures payroll data entry/imports and calculations are accurate and that employees are paid accurately and timely.

· Perform payroll audits.

· Research, analyze and resolves complex payroll issues and concerns from employee and site.

· Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements.

· Provide garnishment/tax/workers compensation support.

· Understand company, site, department processes and policies, as well as site benefits.

· Understand time and attendance process. Assist in month-end, quarter-end and year-end payroll and accounting close and accrual process.

· Assist in special projects, including M&A, system conversions, upgrades, implementation, testing, etc. Adjusts to new, different and changing requirements.

· Maintains confidentiality of information

 

Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge:

· Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving and time management skills, including ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently and meet established deadlines.

· Effective communication skills, including listening, written and verbal skills to express ideas, influence others and gain support. HCM (e.g., Workday) Understanding of accounting principles, time and attendance (CATS) and HR.

· Required Certifications and Training: Certified Payroll Professional preferred Obtains and completes LMS training plan specific to assigned responsibility.

· Experience Level with Business Tools: Strong knowledge of ADP Business Pro payroll systems preferred.

· Workday payroll/time and attendance processing or implementation experience a must.

· Strong personal computer skills, including advanced proficiency with MS office software, particularly Excel (vlookups and pivot tables), E-mail, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.

· Experience with HCM (e.g., Workday) or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.

· Multi-state payroll experienced required Canadian payroll knowledge preferred or other international payroll experienced.

The Payroll Analyst is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of the company’s payroll; both regularly scheduled and off-cycle processes in SAP. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Accountable for the timely and accurate processing of the company’s payrolls for Canadian and US employees
  • Create pre and post-payroll reports which are used for internal control purposes which assure that all appropriate payments match the recipient
  • Review and reconcile earnings and deductions from cycle to cycle to determine if discrepancies need action
  • Review payroll results for reasonability of gross to net pay
  • Provide the first line of support for payroll-related questions coming from the Employee Services team
  • Validate the accuracy of FI posting entries and complete all postings on time
  • Validate banking transactions regularly to identify rejections and work with Employee Services to reissue payments
  • Liaise with banks on payroll-related transactions
  • Monitor the daily CMA interface, correct table entries and reprocesses to ensure accurate payment of wages to Running Trade Employees (RTE’s)
  • Process and reconcile all third-party payments; including but not limited to CRA Tax payments, OHT, MHT, Union dues, Garnishments, etc
  • Participate in year-end activities as required
  • Complete other duties as required

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • PCP designation or working toward the certification
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a payroll department
  • SAP Payroll experience, an asset
  • US Payroll experience, an asset
  • Capable to follow strict processing schedules and deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally
  • Able to communicate effectively

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform specialized payroll functions in support of Payroll management.
  • Analysis of financial data for both the Payroll department and the Operation.
  • Provide Payroll staff with first line support for Peoplesoft and other day to day functions.

Qualifications

  • Completion of PCP and/or PLP payroll certification considered an asset If not completed prior to being in the role, then expected to complete once in the role.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of PeopleSoft HR/Payroll will be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with PC software Excel, Word and email.
  • Ability to build queries in Peoplesoft and/or SQL is an asset.
  • Mature self-starter with the ability to work under minimum supervision.
