Operations Supervisor Full-time Job

As the Operations Supervisor, you are responsible for supervising the operation of delivery of dedicated freight to meet contractual requirements in a 24-hour, Monday through Saturday service including daily dock operations, reverse dock operations, and on-site customer dock operations, drivers, fleet & fleet maintenance, and dispatch. 

How You’ll Help: 

  • Provide daily guidance and motivation to Dock Workers (employees and agency workers) and Drivers (company and broker drivers) to ensure achievement of operational objectives for the terminal.  
  • Escalates issues of individual poor performance, inappropriate behaviour, absenteeism, etc. to the Terminal Manager.  
  • Communicate monthly performance stats to the team to help measure, develop and improve operational performance. 
  • Maintain policies and procedures and ensure compliance with federal and provincial transportation, safety, and employment legislation. 
  • Ensure all incidents (personal injuries, transportation collisions, spills, near misses, etc.) are promptly reported, documented, an investigation is initiated and corrective/preventative measures are implemented. 
  • Hold effective, weekly tailgate meetings and ensure safety issues are addressed. 
  • Works with the team and others, internal and external to the terminal, to resolve roadblocks to achievement of daily operational objectives. 
  • Ensure the schedule for the terminal is followed.   
  • Work with the Terminal Manager to track monthly performance stats for the dock. 
  • Supervises a group of Drivers and Dock Workers, both employee and contractor/agency, directly and indirectly through Lead Hands. 
  • Other duties as required 

Your Skills and Experience: 

  • Post-secondary education, preferably in operations, logistics, or business 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered 
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in the transportation industry 
  • Previous leadership experience and/or experience in the transportation industry are strong assets 
  • Strong leadership skills specifically the ability to motivate and drive engagement to achieve objectives, facilitate conflict resolution, and to provide training

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with legislation, standards, and codes: Adhere to relevant regulations such as Technical Standards and Safety Authority, Electrical Safety Association, OSHA, Ontario Fire Code, Ontario's Building Code, Peel Health, and Ministry of Labour and Employment Standards Act; comply with external agency audits, such as Peel Health.

  • Foster collaboration and communication: Schedule regular meetings with their direct and indirect reports, maintain positive relationships with business units, ensure project deliverables meet acceptance criteria, and contribute to various strategies and plans.
  • Lead and manage projects: Act as project leaders for LEAN Yellow Belt or Green Belt projects; prepare project charters, monthly status reports, and briefing notes; provide guidance to functional and line of business teams.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Write new SOPs for recreation facility administration and operations; provide feedback and vote on SOP creation and revisions.
  • Manage legal agreements and corporate initiatives: Oversee license, management, operations, and partnership agreements; work with Internal Audit on projects, investigations, and action plans; liaise with the Office of Emergency Management and implement emergency procedures and training.
  • Support quality assurance and workplace values: Provide input for the High Five quality assurance program, promote a workplace that values diversity, inclusion, respect, fairness, and continuous learning and development.

What you will do

Customer Service:

Store Operations:

  • Effectively utilizes meet all store operating initiatives and directives according to required timelines.
  • Establishes plan and follows up on execution of weekly price changes and department POP as per weekly communication, resulting in 100% system pricing including weekly prices sweeps.
  • Establish efficient process to maintain product flow from the warehouse onto the sales floor
  • Complete weekly price sweeps and pricing audits to ensure 100% compliance with PHL audit
  • Follows and ensures compliance of all corporate LP, Cash and Store Audit Compliance, and OH&S policies and procedures.

 

Training:

  • Coach and develop store staff, through setting expectations, communication, coaching, feedback, and ongoing support.
  • Follow up to ensure execution of Weekly Plans for the store.
  • Create development plans and conduct annual appraisals for Part Time staff members; support and coach to improve any performance gaps and conducts ongoing coaching to improve team.
  • Communicate in a clear and concise manner; leading effective Huddles / Meetings / Coaching sessions all while keeping team well informed of pertinent information.
  • Ensure PHL staff have understanding of department maintenance standards and general merchandising
  • Provide resolution for all customer concerns.

 

Leadership:

  • Continually motivates team and performance through recognition programs, store contests, customer compliments, and compensation.
  • Maintain PHL performance management expectations (feedback/coaching); this includes progressive discipline where necessary.
  • Promotes and maintains a positive and motivating work environment.

The Manufacturing Supervisor is a full-time position located at our Brampton Bottling Production Facilities. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Production Supervisor supervises and coordinates activities within the manufacturing department while working in close collaboration with the members of the production facility. 

Responsibilities

  • Staff, train, supervise, develop, and evaluate team members.
  • Provide a safe work environment by having regular Safety crew talks promoting safety policies and guidelines. 
  • Manage daily maintenance activities of the team in a unionized environment.
  • Complete work orders, work schedules, timesheet approvals, maintains employee files, ensuring daily tasks and procedures are followed out safely and correctly.
  • Support the maintenance department planning shutdown work, reviewing parts and schedules are in place. 
  • Reviews KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), deciding and implementing corrective measures to the team.
  • Responsible for maximizing fixed asset utilization rates.
  • Ensure proper transfer of information between the shifts and departments.
  • Comply with all Company/Plant policies and Regulatory guidelines including but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), American Institute of Banking (AIB), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Quality and Safety Standards.
  • Manage labour and operations within operating expenses (OPEX) budget.
  • Ability to work any shift, and be on call as required. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience is required.
  • 1-3 year’s work experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment required.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical components
  • Preference given to applicants with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) knowledge and experience.
  • Excellent general computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), SAP experience an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude to builds and maintain strong business relationships.
  • Highly detailed problem-solving approach coming to solutions in a timely fashion. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet target deadlines.
