What is the Opportunity?

The DevOps Center or Excellence Team is undertaking multiple complex enterprise-wide initiatives as part of RBC’s ongoing plan to improve technology management and be a world leader. As a Lead DevOps Engineer/Technical Lead with expertise in CI/CD and Service Management, you will play a pivotal role in building software to solve complex project needs, enhance our software delivery pipelines, ensure system reliability, monitoring and improving overall service quality to ensure operational excellence. In this role you will be responsible for strategically planning and managing successful implementation of the above mentioned. You will be part of a team of DevOps engineers and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams across RBC to drive the adoption of DevOps practices, optimizing development workflows, and ensure the reliability and scalability of software applications in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

 

What will you do?

 

• Work on internal facing applications targeted towards developers across the organization.

• Build and configure pipelines that would help app teams build and deploy cloud native apps.

• Help design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve app services.

• Integrate with third party APIs and create scalable apps.

• Partner with other teams to understand user needs and contribute to delivering solutions to solve complex business problems.

• Create and maintain technical systems documentation and write concise, well-organized code and sensible tests.

• Implement end to end monitoring.

 

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

• 3+ years experience working with DevOps principals, CI/CD tools i.e. Github actions, Jenkins, Circle CI and building custom pipelines etc.

• Experience working with docker and Kubernetes (Azure, OpenShift/AWS).

• 3+ years of development experience with object-oriented programming(java/groovy/python), micro services architecture, Spring Framework, Maven, etc.

• Hands on experience designing, developing, testing and troubleshooting REST APIs

• Experience with multi-threading, scaling, concurrency, caching, queuing, and distributed data storage

• Experience with message brokers (Rabbitmq, Kafka etc.), SQL(Postgres) and NoSQL databases (Mongodb, Elastic etc.) Nice to have:

• Experience with a public cloud platform i.e. Azure, AWS

• Experience working with Github actions and workflow development.

• Experience with AI to implement self healing pipelines & leveraging AI tools/LLM’s to create AI Testing as part of the pipeline.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Build and productionize modular and scalable data ELT/ETL pipelines and data infrastructure leveraging the wide range of data sources across the organization
  • Implement curated common data models that offer an integrated, business-centric single source of truth for business intelligence, reporting, and downstream system use, in collaboration with Data Architect
  • Work closely with infrastructure and cyber teams to ensure data is secure in transit and at rest
  • Clean, prepare and optimize datasets for performance, ensuring lineage and quality controls are applied throughout the data integration cycle
  • Support Business Intelligence Analysts in modelling data for visualization and reporting, using dimensional data modeling and aggregation optimization methods
  • Troubleshoot issues related to ingestion, data transformation and pipeline performance, data accuracy and integrity
  • Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, data engineers, data analysts, solution architects and data modelers to develop data pipelines to feed our data marketplace
  • Assist in identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
  • Work with tools in the Microsoft Stack; Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Databases, Azure Data Warehouse, Azure Synapse Analytics Services, Azure Databricks, Microsoft Purview, and Power BI

EDUCATION

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Minimum 6 years experience with Data Engineering

Job Details

Reporting to the Manager, Cybersecurity, the Junior Cybersecurity Specialist role is pivotal in fortifying the organization's digital assets and information security by proactively monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents.

The Junior Cybersecurity Specialist contributes to the development and enhancement of cybersecurity policies and procedures. This position focuses on staying ahead of evolving cyber threats to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems. The primary goal is to strengthen defense mechanisms, conduct thorough risk assessments, and provide timely insights to maintain a resilient and secure IT environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, deployment, and maintenance of monitoring and network security systems
  • Review and perform maintenance on existing server policy and process configurations
  • Assist in deploying and configuring new servers within security and monitoring silos
  • Participate in planning, developing, and deploying notification systems for performance, security, and health of systems
  • Monitor security logs of servers and devices for risks, errors, or intrusions.
  • Collaborate in responding to security events as necessary
  • Thoroughly document details of cybersecurity incidents, including the nature of the incident, actions taken, and lessons learned. Maintain incident response documentation for post-incident analysis and reporting
  • Contribute to the documentation of cybersecurity policies and procedures, ensuring clarity and adherence to industry standards. Assist in keeping documentation up-to-date to reflect changes in security practices and compliance requirements
  • Document findings and results from regular security monitoring, generating reports for management and relevant stakeholders. Maintain records of security metrics and key performance indicators
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure documentation aligns with overall IT and cybersecurity objectives. Document collaborative efforts and knowledge-sharing within the cybersecurity team
  • Enforce and maintain security policies across network devices, updating firewall rules and access controls
  • Assist with Managing and configuring security appliances, while troubleshooting issues to ensure proper functioning
  • Act as initial escalation point for other staff for Cybersecurity issues

Requirements:

  • Four (4) year University degree in Computer Science with a networking, server infrastructure, or cybersecurity focus, or equivalent professional experience
  • Certified in Cybersecurity ISC2 (CC) is preferred, or willingness to complete
  • Willing to consider current students and recent graduates from post-secondary educational institutions
  • CompTIA Security+ certification is preferred
  • Knowledge of Deployment Models in a Microsoft Server environment
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Domain Administration is an asset
  • Network protocol and firewall knowledge
  • Understanding of VLAN and tunneling configurations
  • Relevant training in security related technology, risk mitigation and techniques
