Overview of the role:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role supervises maintenance activities, including the repair, maintenance, and installation of machinery and equipment. It ensures compliance with safety, quality, and food safety standards and regulations while maintaining productivity. The primary hours of work are from Tuesday to Saturday 12pm - 8pm.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to supervising, coaching, scheduling, task and labor management, and enhancing team skills through methods like coaching, directing and communicating.

The Maintenance Supervisor also collaborates with various departments to ensure effective maintenance operations and supports the supply chain specialist with inventory and procurement processes.  Verifying assigned maintenance tasks are completed in a timely manner, ensuring quality work is also accomplished.

How you will make contributions that matter:

• Lead and coach maintenance teams by fostering proactive communication, enhancing employee engagement, managing disciplinary actions, encouraging participation, providing individualized feedback, and conducting performance appraisals. Utilize, review, and maintain the computerized maintenance system for tasks, requests, and parts inventory control.
• Assist the Maintenance Manager in preparing the department budget, monitoring expenditures, and compiling expenditure reports while identifying stock deficiencies.
• Support the maintenance department by providing expert guidance, acting as a liaison between Production, Quality Control, and other departments. Verify task completion and ensure work meets quality standards.
• Utilize Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) techniques and optimize preventative maintenance while analyzing critical equipment failures and recommending improvements.
• Coordinate with maintenance coordinators for routine parts purchases and task assignments. Assess on-demand work requests for consistency with current and future requirements in designated areas.
• Ensure compliance with CFIA and audit expectations during maintenance tasks, adhering to food safety standards and enforcing safe work regulatory requirements.
• Promote safe working conditions and ensure all maintenance team members understand and follow safe work procedures.
• Provide shift reports and communicate equipment and job statuses to relevant personnel and departments to foster a collaborative approach.
• Manage, develop, and mentor employees by leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) processes for recurring issues.
• Enhance departmental performance, productivity, and cost control by identifying recurring problems and preparing preventative and scheduled work orders within a determined timeframe.
• Conduct trend analysis, tracking, and forecasting to determine the lifecycle of equipment and parts.
• Perform administrative functions as required and carry out any additional duties as assigned.

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

• Post-secondary Diploma or degree in a related field or trade certification (millwright or electrician preferred)
• Three or more years of verifiable maintenance supervision or management experience within a manufacturing environment is a requirement
• Technical knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (SAP or Fiix is preferred)
• Efficient with MS Office and computer proficiency include knowledge on PLC logic is required
• Highly organized with strong analytical, coordination and communication skills
• Is comfortable working independently and with a team, with the ability to be flexible
• Proficient and dependable in current position, high level troubleshooter and analytical skills
• Available to work a flexible work schedule including weekends

Group Summary:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Licensed Electrician or equivalent electrical engineering certificate
• Completion of an industrial electrician apprenticeship program or equivalent  
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the automotive industry as an industrial electrician
• Knowledge of electric circuitry of relay, PC and PLC logic.
• Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Lockout Policies and electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems 
• Ability to perform basic wiring work, conduit bending and control cabinet wiring.   
• Ability to work with minimum supervision. 
• Good communications skills and must be able to communicate fluently in both written and spoken English.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safe Installation and repair of equipment

• Install, examine, replace and repair electronic wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components. 
• Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
• Inform the Maintenance Manager about changes in electrical circuits and updates to the original diagrams
• Wire new control panels according to drawings and verbal instructions under consideration of Hydro codes and other applicable standards and regulations.
• Pass on information, experience and knowledge to other maintenance employee, to ensure effective, non-repetitious problem solving and machine repairs. 
• Work in a cost-effective manner and maintains a high standard of quality and excellent workmanship. 
• Conduct preventative maintenance programs and keep maintenance records. 
• Must have continuous improvements on machinery and equipment.  Meet schedule set by maintenance Manager.
• Use different PLC programming devices including software to modify and read logic control programs.  Perform other assignments from time to time as managements so directs.

As a Trailer Technician at Day & Ross, you will be responsible Responsible for preventative maintenance, pre-inspection maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on the company’s fleet of trailers in accordance with the applicable level of training and apprenticeship.

How You’ll Help: 

• Responsible for the maintenance and repair of trailers according to work orders and in keeping with level of training/apprenticeship (see below)
• Maintaining safe shop environment (may include snow removal from the roof, de-icing, washing vehicles, sweeping, etc.
• Pre-apprentice Trailer Technicians provide support to journeypersons and to apprentices under the leadership of a journeyperson in all aspects of the maintenance and repair of trailers, including but not limited to brakes, suspension systems, surelok, tires (including psi), trailer axles, lighting systems, rear walls and doors, frame and support, chassis, lighting, wiring, hydraulics, heating & refrigeration systems.
• Apprentice Trailer Technicians, under the leadership of a journeyperson, are involved in all aspects of the repair and maintenance of trailers (see above) and may provide general direction and guidance to Pre-Apprentice Technicians. Apprentice Technicians are expected to work more independently and exercise greater judgment through the various stages of the apprenticeship, obtaining final verification of work from a Journeyperson Technician.
• Journeyperson Technicians independently repair and maintain trailers (see above) and provide general direction, guidance, mentoring and training to Pre-Apprentice and Apprentice Technicians.
• Maintenance and repair of trailer bodies, including miscellaneous accessories such as hub caps, decals, reflective tape, painting, etc.
• Documentation of all findings and work done.
• Lead Journeyperson Technicians provide work direction for all team members and act as escalation point for complex maintenance and repairs.
• Provide guidance, mentoring and training to Pre-Apprentice and Apprentice Technicians

Your Skills and Experience: 

• Post-secondary training in trailer repair and/or completion of trailer technician certificate course
• Preference given to applicants with Red Seal journeyperson certification
• Additional training in tire repairs and/or refrigeration will be considered an asset
• CVIP, an asset
• Candidates enrolled in trailer repair apprenticeship may also be considered.
• Valid Class 1 license also considered an asset
• Previous work experience in an industrial environment, preferably in the transportation industry
• Previous experience and qualification to perform Safety inspections are considered an asset in this position

Journeyman Electrician/Instrumentation Technician – Brandon MB

Overview of the role:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Electrician is responsible for the installation and maintenance of electrical and PLC systems in the plant.

Schedule: 12 hour Rotation – 6 – 6 Weekdays, days, nights and Weekends

Salary: $ 46.27/ hour + Trade Premium $1/hour, Shift Premium for hours worked from 6pm – 6am of $1.20/hour

*Those with an Instrumentation technician ticket and an Electrician ticket are eligible for the Dual Trade premium.
