Requirements 

• Recent Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) valid within the last three (6) months is required. 
• Ability to communicate effectively with school-aged children and interact and cooperate with people of diverse ages and backgrounds.   
• Wear mandatory safety equipment supplied by the Corporation of the City of Sarnia.
• Able to monitor traffic flow to locate safe gaps through which pedestrians can cross. 
• Must be able to work in all forms of weather, including extremes of heat, humidity, cold, rain, snow, sleet and wind.
• Must have the ability to perform the physical aspects of this position including standing and walking for prolonged periods of time and carrying a hand-held stop sign.

About the Opportunity

• Develop, assess, monitor and adjust the Health and Safety program and related documents to address trends in incidents, hazards, injuries and tasks across all job positions.

About You

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform access control provision duties, verify visitors coming on-site and parking enforcement. Dispatch duties via radio communication accepting all radio calls.
• Must be physically strong to conduct 3/5-foot patrols inside the warehouse.
• Escort medical staff including paramedics, police and firefighters when required.
• Respond to medical emergencies and be prepared to perform CPR and AED if needed.

• National Lifeguard Certification (NL)
• Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor
• Standard First Aid with CPR-C within 2 years of certification date (from a WSIB approved agency)

Outdoor Pools and Beaches

The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation is inviting applications from interested and qualified candidates for the summer intake of Lifeguard I employees for various outdoor pools and beaches in Vancouver. Under the supervision of an Aquatic Program Specialist or Aquatic Training Specialist, this position performs responsible lifeguard and/or instructional duties at any City of Regina aquatic facilities. The work assigned involves ensuring the safety of patrons and proper facility usage. This position may be transferred between aquatics facilities and will be required to work non-standard hours.


Typical duties include:

• Ensures that proper safety procedures are followed an in cases of emergency, performs first aid, water rescues and other lifeguarding skills and techniques as required.
