Responsibilities

- Controls access to client site or facility through the admittance process.

- Protects evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations.

- Prepares logs and reports as required. Specific duties or tasks may vary and be documented separately.

What will you do?
- Conduct plans examination and review of permit applications for new electrical systems, changes or alterations to buildings and structures by assessment for compliance with bylaws, codes, regulations and other municipal standards.

- Codes Act and Canadian Electrical Code.

Qualifications
- Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade
Journeyman electrician certification recognized in Alberta and six (6) years of relevant experience after receiving that journeyman certification
OR - Electrical Engineering technologist diploma in a related field or equivalent recognized in Canada and eight (8) years of relevant experience in the building construction industry after obtaining that diploma
OR - Electrical Engineering degree recognized in Canada and eight (8) years of relevant experience in the building construction industry, at least one of which must be completed after obtaining that degree
Registered as a Safety Codes Officer having satisfactorily completed training achieving certification as Electrical Group A with Safety Codes Council in the Province of Alberta
Skills required for success:
- Strong knowledge of standard methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment employed in the building construction trades with experience involving residential, part 9 and part 3 projects

You will further advise, guide, mentor and coach Safety Codes Officers, to ensure the technical work of these officers is in alignment with City of Edmonton standards. Your work will be distinguished from the Safety Codes Officer II by additional responsibility in completing complex inspections and/or plans examinations, the review of escalated plans and inspections, and project specific duties. The screener is responsible to follow all requirements as described in the Local Aviation Security Procedures and any local regulations. Screeners may be called upon to fulfill Alternate Facility Security Coordinator (AFSC) duties when required. This position will require to use equipment and follow guidelines for screening as described in the Aviation Security Master Operating Plan.
Specific Job Duties:
DSA - Designated Screening Area
The screener must restrict access to the area other than authorized personnel only. The screener must enforce proper ID, challenge and escort procedures at all times. The screener must be in uniform at all times while working in the area.
Screening:
After completing the UPS required training, the screener will now be in charge of identifying and controlling any possible threat during screening. The screener will use a variety of tools and equipment like X-ray scanners and chemical trace detectors to complete the task. Screening is the employee’s main responsibility while they are at work.
Document Management:
The screener must fully complete and secure all documentation until released to the Facility Security Coordinator, these include but are not limited to various checklists for equipment maintenance and repair, checklists, logs and any other documentation as described in the Aviation Security Master Operating Plan.
Equipment:
All equipment will be maintained as required to keep them fully operational and properly calibrated. The screener is responsible to notify the local management of any equipment or system failures. The screener will keep accurate and complete records. The screener will also manage scanners that are used throughout the operation.
Aviation Security Training:
The screener is responsible to comply with any required training on a timely manner, trainings are time sensitive. Screeners will be continuously tested and audited to ensure accuracy and compliance. Screener must meet minimum requirements in order to maintain qualifications. Training will be provided.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Willing to wear a uniform
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiar with MS Office applications
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to multitask, and handle pressure
- Able to lift up to 70-lbs
- Able to work with cargo scanning equipment
