Job Details
Under supervision of the Service Supervisor, this position drives a bus to transport passengers to local destinations in a safe, courteous manner and provides related information to the public in a polite andamp; professional manner.

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Operates a bus in a safe and courteous manner in accordance with Saskatoon Transit rules and regulations either along scheduled routes to local destinations or on chartered services or tours.
  • Provides passengers with information about schedules, stops and presents the fare.
  • Ensures passengers safety when boarding, riding and leaving buses.
  • Reports all operational problems, such as delays and mechanical problems, according to established procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Thorough knowledge of the geographic layout of the City of Saskatoon.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public.
  • Knowledge of, and empathy with, the transportation needs of persons with disabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, civic departments and outside agencies.

Education, Training And Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Three years’ experience in public transportation service delivery, including two years customer service experience.
  • Possession of a valid Class 2A Learners Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.

Requires Security Check

Acceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) upon offer of employment.

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular, Full-Time Logistics Attendant to join our dynamic Supply Chain Operations West Team.

 

The Supply Chain Operations West team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by providing technical assistance and maintaining the laboratory, all laboratory equipment and test instruments.  In this role, you will be working on the frontlines, assisting in the delivery of products, processes and services that provide life-saving treatments for Canadians. 

 

 

Formula for success:  

 

  • Applying your incredible attention to detail, you will verify shipping and receiving of products / resolves discrepancies with buyers efficiently; you will also be responsible for the daily documentation for resupply of fridges / freezers and monthly cleaning, and performing physical inventory counts / stock rotation as per expiry dates / product recall. 
  • Using your amazing organizational skills, you will organize and maintain warehouse and dock area for efficiency / cleanliness, as well as maintain documentation of critical supplies batch numbers / quantities received.
  • With your commitment to safety and quality, you will ensure Preventative Maintenance / replacement (of faulty) Equipment / Callibration (as required), as well as ensure the proper handling / accurate accounting of biohazard containers for off-site removal and destruction.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
     

Desired education and skills:

 

  • Grade 12 plus one year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment, such as forklift.
  • Ability to keyboard 35 w.p.m.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Lifting supplies and equipment that may exceed 10 kilograms, sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling and crouching.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Processes shipments through an order management system
  • Plan transportation in sap and issues loading instructions to the carrier(s) and supplier(s)

    Invoices and forwards documents to the customer as per the contract of sale
  • Secures payment through Letters of Credit

  • Cost freight on timely manner

What You’ll Bring:

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in international logistics or equivalent work experience required
  • 5-7 years’ experience in logistics operations or related field required
  • Good computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and an aptitude to learn   new software when required
  • Fluent in English
  • Bilingual is an asset such as Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese
  • Letters of Credit, applications, rules and practices
  • Outstanding ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and to work in an extremely fast- paced environment

  • Shift start time 09:00 AM (approx.)
  • Shifts are generally 8-10 hours per day but may extend longer during high volume and peak holiday season.  Shift start and finish time can vary.
  • Union environment - as you attain and continue to gain seniority you will eventually have your own route
